I'm assuming (ha ha...yeah, I know) the X308s are the same as the X300s in this area.
I replaced mine a year or two ago and, though perfectly DIY-able, it was actually a bit more difficult than I expected. I had difficulty disengaging the old supports where they attach under the package tray area, especially on the RH side. Very little space to properly release (or even pry off) the retaining clips.
I can't remember the exact details but at the end some anger, brutish tactics, and blood loss were involved.
If there's a special technique involved let's hope someone chimes in with it :-)
