Default Trunk opening

01 xj8 if I use the key it opens every time perfectly if I try to open using an electronic means I might have to try two or three times for it to open especially if it's been a little while since last time using the trunk..I tried spraying some wd40 on the latch with no affect... Everytime I use an electronic means I can definitely hear the actuator even though it might not open... Is the actuator getting tired and not pulling all the way?? Any thoughts??

On the right trunk hinge remove the plastic cover and you might find some wires rubbing and grounded out , common

The target wire to look for is the Orange one and it grounds on wire Black , but that would not be a issue .

It's not the wires.. Already repaired and I can hear the actuator everytime but it doesn't always release the trunk

Attached is a copy of the blow up for the trunk lock assembly. Most likely Pc# 12 has worn where it engages the actuator and the release. Unfortunately there are no bushiings so it is metal on metal With the blow up you can get a pretty good idea as to what is hiding behind the plastic cover.
Mine did the same thing and Pc# 12 was almost worn thru and the actuator had a good size groove started.

I'm pulling a found one from the salvage yard probably on Tuesday as the previous owner of mine could not effectively deal with it and tossed some parts of the monkey works . PM me . Did you check your grounds in the trunk ?
