If you have problems with the trunk lights, same problem, well known issue.

And you can buy the segment of the harness. It is not to long and fairly cheap(for jaguar oem)
and while you can fix i do not because you fix a couple wires and then they come back later with more. And by the time i open the harness and repair, for the same money i could have just replaced with new and been done quickly with minimal labor cost. Its about a wash cost for part or cost for labor.

Awesome thanks for the advice guys. The trunk lights do in fact work, everything works as it should under there with the exception of the dash push switch. Even the key fob trunk switch works perfectly.
I took a long hard look at each wire on the right hinge trying to find a break. I understand that sometimes the breaks can be below the insulation so I gave them all a tug and also ran my finger along them with a slight bendy action and I couldn't find anything I thought was broken inside. Even cut back the plastic housing on the bottom and went back another 6 inches or so looking. Be real cool to know what resistance readings I need on all the colors to do a true check.
I found a new dash switch on ebay for 7 bucks. Just want to rule that out. If it isn't that I suppose i'll do the new wiring harness unless anyone else has any ideas.

Well after taking it apart and taking a look, I see two wires going to the actuator(one is a ground), and two going to what appears to be a sensor on the latch itself. This to me means if my key fob is working then the problem isn't back here in the trunk. Another words, there are only two wires that do the talking to the actuator, not a separate one for the trunk switch. So the problem likely the trunk switch itself or the wiring between it and the control module. I'll start with the switch I suppose.
