Default RE: Trunk release

I think it's an issue with your valet button. You might have to take it to the dealer, because if it's opening with the key, then the locking mechanism is obviously working. I saw this yesterday I began to reply but then my computer froze and I forgot about it. Sorry.

For those with the trunk issue, try these few checks.

First, access the electric solenoid and connect up a multimeter between the orange/red wire and chassis ground (or the black wire on the solenoid). Now, attempt to open the trunk. Did you see the multimeter jump up to 12 VDC (11 VDC or more) for a second or so? If yes, then you have a bad solenoid. If no, then your problem lies with either the wiring between the solenoid or the security module (repeat the check at the security module and if you get 12 VDC there, bad wire, if no 12 VDC, then you have a bad module).

Because you have lost the ability to open the trunk with both the key fob and the pushbutton inside the car, we can rule out the trunk button. Also, because you are not complaining about not being able to add gas to the car, I know that the security module is getting power.

if you need more help, let me know.

No comment to make on the electrical advice (good as usual).

But I read it slightly differently.

Physically can't open trunk with key in lock.

Do you have the master key (black) or just the valet key (green)?

The valet key will not open your trunk.

I'll add another beer to that bet. Check to see if your trunk lamps work as well. I'm guessing you've got a few compromised wires in that loom on the RH hinge.
