Unbearable Sunroof Buffetting
I've searched the forum, but haven't found out whether my '99 VDP sunroof is supposed to have a flip-up flap to stop the horrible buffeting that is taking place when we are traveling at speed and open the sunroof. I don't see a flap like the one on our non-jag cars...is there supposed to be one?

Hi Crosbo
I'm assuming you're meaning opening the roof by sliding it back ? (ie not just tilting it ?)
I have the pop up deflector and mine does seem to deploy correctly, but it's hopeless. With the roof slid back, I can reach up into the sunroof aperture and push the deflector down with my hands and it has no impact on the buffeting.
The only way I've found to be able to have the roof fully open and not burst your eardrums is to drop BOTH rear windows by about 1/2 an inch. This cuts the buffeting out completely. Obviously this is maybe only an acceptable work around if you don't have anyone in the back.
Try it and see if it works for you.

Thanx for the responses.
As soon as the rains go away, I'll give the window drop a try. I think we tried it shortly after purchase on our drive home, but I can't remember...euphoria had taken over. ;-)
Doesn't make sense that you wouldn't be able to "unpainfully" cruise at speed with the sunroof open in a car of this caliber.
Thanx all.
