Default Upper Engine Fan

The upper engine fan has stopped working and as a result engine seems to run a bit hot. Sometimes even after I shut off the engine the lower working one keeps on blowing for around a minute.
I've checked the fuses (#12 & 14) and they are fine. I went to the Jaguar repair shop and got a very expensive quote for a replacement for the Fan&Cowl (MNC4270AC).
Is this something I can order and easily replace myself?

Just buy a good-used motor/fan from a salvage yard (or the whole fan/cowl) and replace it.

Jaguar only offers the fan/cowl as an assembly. (not individual fans)

eBay has them for $100 to $200 all day long.

A new complete OEM fan shroud and fan units is approx $500US.

Used items can be found on eBay for around $150US

Individual fans can be found on eBay for approx $30US

Not sure how available such things are at auto recycling yard in Japan, but that would be a good source too.

Regarding replacement, it is super-easy to replace, the cowl and fans are just held on by two bolts, and an electrical connector. Literally takes just minutes to replace.

You don't need to replace the complete fan assembly. You can buy a used fan (separate from the cowling) for some GBP 20-30 (plenty on Ebay) and replace the failed one. The two fans have different colour plugs (grey and black) and possibly slightly different lengths of the wires, otherwise they are the same. You can search Ebay for "jaguar x308 radiator fan".

However, before you go ahead with buying a fan, make sure the problem is in the fan itself, Disconnect the suspect fan connector and connect the fan directly to an external 12V supply (battery). If it doesn't run, then you need to replace it.

the fans themselves are held on by like 3 or 4 10mm bolts and nuts.

if you’re lucky there’s a 308 in a japanese junkyard and you won’t have to pay shipping
