Default Urgent please help!

Okay, so, long story short, the water temp sensor for my 2000 VDP was loose. I was looking at it to see if it could be tightened (I didn't touch it with the wrench but wiggled it a bit because it was leaking a bit of coolant the last week or so). As I was wiggling it very gently (this was about 15 minutes after the had been driven) the thing shot out and sprayed fairly warm coolant all over (not super hot). Well, long story short the collar that it threads into came out also.

There is not auto parts store near me that carried a replacement water outlet pipe (Jaguar Vanden Plas XJ8 XK8 Coolant Water Distribution Outlet Pipe New | eBay) that thing....

I used some 2 part epoxy to hold it in until I can order a replacement. I didn't use any kind of fancy epoxy or anything. It was 2am and all the stores are closed. Someone please tell me if this will work or not. I have to use the car to get to work at 10AM CST. I work 23 miles away (each way) any clue if this will hold up to it or not?

Or any way that I can ensure that it doesn't give out when I am traveling down the highway at 55-65 MPH?

any info is really appreciated. Thanks.

JB weld would probably hold, but the clear quickset epoxies are more likely to fail.

Considering the likelihood of rapid coolant loss and overheating if the repair fails it is a very bad idea to drive the car without replacing sensor. You could easily lose the engine.

+1 Wouldn't trust it. But your description isn't very clear: did it "shoot out" because the plastic broke or because the sensor backed out of the threaded crossover pipe. If it just backed out, try rethreading it in and tightening. But I suspect the plastic gave out, right?

I would have rented a car and ordered the replacement from least cost supplier on Amazon or eBay (or called Welsh directly) and paid for overnight delivery. Maybe new hoses, TST, and TST tower. When the plastic gives out in one part, rest will shortly follow.
