Default valet mode issue 2000 xj8

how do I get valet mode off on my 2000 xj8 sedan?

My key fob doesn't work, and i only have the 1 black key. I purchased this car less than a week ago. Previous owner said this never happened to him.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

It should come out of valet mode when you put the black heade key in the ignition.

I believe it goes out of valet mode if you open the trunk AND it senses that the trunk is open - so, the trunk lights come on, and if the car is running, the "boot open" warning pops up on the dash.

You need to use the black key and open the trunk. The valet should then cancel. If it doesn't cancel then reopen the trunk and do a hard reset. Remove the negative cable and touch it to the positive. It will restore all modules to default settings.
The idle revs will be a little high for a few minutes as the ECM relearns the TSP position. You might also have to reset the windows.

This is necessary, and often a problem on cars wit ha sticky micro switch or more often, broken wires at the hinge.
Plenty (!) of threads on the matter, do a search.

Thanks nilanium.
The ONLY way that I am aware of to cancel the VALET MODE is to have the BOOT OPEN recognized by the car.

You might get the same result by replacing the BPM or SLCM????
I forget which module controls the function.
