Default VDP or base model ?

I am still trying to decide what to get. I will put some miles on, so I plan to buy with decent miles, and keep for 3 yrs, and then sell to trade up again. I am looking at a 2000 VDP, with 87k, for $7k. Also at a nice base model with 89k, for $ 6k. The VDP's are gorgeous, andlook to hold better value. did I just answer my own question?
Thank you, C

I love the VDP, you will never hear anyone complain of a lack in rear leg room. The interiors are very nice, to boot. Too bad my 99 vdp has almost double the miles of the ones you are looking at with about the same price. With almost 100k, the cars you are looking at will probably be getting close to needing things replaced, if they havent been replaced already. Good luck and let us know what you get!

Get the VDP! It's ridiculously luxurious. The little extra touches are so snooty they're worth the extra $$! The walnut picnic tables, for example--even if you never use them--crack me up. I bet no one you know has finely polished walnut burl picnic tables in their car. Love it.

Let us know!

Yeah the wood tray tables are pretty snooty, but I like that. haha. If you drive or stand behind the car, they are in clear view. It can give a "wow there is even wood BEHIND the front seats?!" reaction. Anyone notice how visible the interior is in the XJ? You can read the CD I'm listening to while standing behind the car or even that I'm wearing a wristwatch.

In these cars, you sit on its interior, instead of in it. Expect anyone who sees you drive by to know exactly its you driving and who might be riding in the car. No other car is like this!

The VDP is black, with the off white interior. I'm still shaking the money tree, so it may be a while. And boy howdy, the interiors are really beautiful! Looks like a scantool, and then secondary tensioners would be the first things to consider.

Get the VDP. I had a choice between two comparable cars. Both were the same color combination, miles, etc with the XJ8 being two years newer. I really wanted the LWB car because I can't stand my kids kicking my seat. Up in KY your passengers will appreciate the rear heated seats as much as you will appreciate the heated front seats. The trays add loads of class but are of no use unless the car is parked. Still, how many cars have these? My VDP is the longest car I've had and it takes some getting used to but you learn. I've finally stopped hitting my head getting in and out of it.

Do get a pre-purchase inspection done. I did not and I regret it. I knew better but didn't do it anyway. I had to have the car. Spend the time and money to buy a good one.
