VDP Vibration at 60 mph

Greetings!
I have 1999 VDP that develops a minor but noticable vibration above 60 mph. New tires and balanced with no change. Front end checked and aligned and still there. I read in past posts the possibility of balancing problem with the drive shaft - any ideas on isolating the source? If the mechanic can be trusted, the front end is not the issue and frankly it doesn't feel like the source.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards,
Larry

FactoryJagTech personally owns a VDP, and he has mentioned that all XJs that he has test driven have a slight vibration, so it may be just inherant. (sp?) Did it just start, or have you always noticed it...how long have you owned the car? How many miles on it?
Hope a tech can help you further after getting more info.

Thanks for the ideas. I have only had the car a couple weeks and the vibe has always been there. Prior to purchasing it, dealer replaced the tires and did the front end alignment as part fo the deal. The vibration is not telescoping through the steering wheel or the brake pedal for that matter. The start seems to coincide with a shift in the tranny. A bit hard to tell especially with poor road conditions this winter. I gambled when I bought it - hopefully its not major or is just part of the ride.

My VDP has very minor vibration from center of car. I feel it mostly at around 55. I try not to think about it.
If it is not too bad you may learn to live with it. I would check wheel bearings for play and other than that, to ease your mind do as Genius said. Take to dealer and have them look. Doesnt mean you have to get work done there, but at least you would feel confident the rear end is not going to fall out.

I know they say a little vibration is acceptable but it was not to me …I owned an auto repair center at the time I had this little vibration ….It drove me batty …use to driving Lincolns …To make a long story short …I have fixed a lot of jags this way including 2 of my own.. it is the carrier bearing that makes that little acceptable vibration ..use a drive shaft with out one ….CVJ joint in front and standard in rear at 45 Degree angle not 90 our driveline shop could make one for 200$ …if I get one of my cars up on a hoist I will take pixs and post ..Smooth as silk …the 45 degree angel is for Harmonic vibration and noise ....This may not be your problem as the other posters have said could be a lot of things, but the one jag says is acceptable this is how you get rid of it

Yes....This is not my idea... i stoll it from a Ford rep ..They use CVJ on bouth ends ...They had simelar problems on some of there rigs ......GM had same problems and with Harmonics ...where i stoll the 45 degree angle it was a cheep fix for GM as CVJ cost about 60$ each they went the cheep root ...but it worked
