Hi all. I have a 2001 XJ8 with 49k - and love her dearly.
Over the last few days she has developed a strange noise when the interior ventilation fan is on.It get louder as the fan is turned on - sounds like the fan blades are hitting something, or as if a baffler is vibrating. This is not a high pitched whine, but rather a low vibration. Try to say brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..... ;-)
Anyhow, has anyone else had the same issue, or any ideas?
Thanks

The foam on the doors of the blower motors has come off and is in the squirrel cage. You can remove fairly easily with some long hemostats or similar. For the right side (LHD car), remove glove box and with key off, the door will be open, reach in with hemostats and turn white cage slowly until you see the foam. Carefully pull it out.
For the opposite side, remove the open box by removing the phillips head screw at top. Pop off the yellow and white connectors from the retainer and do same as opposite side to remove foam. Other option is to replace the blower motors, but that is expensive and uneccessary.
