Very peculiar problem
I have a peculiar problem with the fuel guage. Now I heard of them reading improper or not working at all according to forum postings, especially in the xk8/xkrs. Now mine work like clockwork but from full to empty reading is only 9 gallons. Now from my understanding, this should be a 19 to 21/w reserve gallon tank. It's aminor problem in my book as it just means I'm filling up every 1/2 tank about and never have to worry about running dry.
I guess this may be a fuel sender problem? Now I dropped a few tanks in my day, everything from MBZ, BMWs, to Nissans. The Mercedes was the most pain in the but as the tank is in the trunk behind the passenger seat and the back seat had to come out and cause interior to smell like gas while replacing the sending unit. The BMW was easist. Access panel in trunk, remove four screws to the cover and another four for the sender unit and out it comes. The Nissan had to drop tank and staight forward after that but can be a pain when person forget to empty tank and a few gallons of fuel can feel like an elephant when ya on ya back.
Now about the Jag? how easy or hard is it for the sedan?
Or it could be the guage itself. Now how would one go about fixing that?
As mentioned earlier, it is a minor problem so it will be one I'll get to it whe nI get to it.
