Default VIN number question

I am getting a parts car, a 99 Vandenplas. It's immaculate inside out but has electrical issues and no title due to insurance issues. My question is this, im thinking of changing out the interior and putting the Vandenplas interior in mine. Is the VIN number attatched to the dash board or what looking thru the windsheild it appears to be so? I don't want to mess up and switch numbers by accident :-) Anyone ever removed the dash and know about this?

The VIN plate visible through the windshield is attached (riveted) to the body. Dash board is separate from this plate. Replacing the dashboard will not mess up your VIN.

Hi Guys,
I recently replaced my windshield and had rust around the frame right where the VIN plate is, the only thing keeping the plate in place is a strip of double sided tape.
If you switch out the dash you will not disturb the VIN plate.

The wire harnesses, if you want to change them also must be from the same years, same engine, same suspension type, so yours should be before 00 car, without an Fxxxxx number at the end of the VIN. You can use any interior part from other years, but the electrics must fit the numbers.
Have a look here to find what electrics match you car:
