Visual Mod: Custom Side Repeater Emblems
Hello! My first post in this forum!
I’ve recently purchased a 2003 XJR. Beautiful car but it came with a slight problem: the driver’s side repeater with the Jag Leaper emblem was missing. Since the American XJRs (maybe XJ8s too, I’m not sure) have emblems instead of blinker lights on the sides, I decided to design my own piece instead of buying a stock replacement.
I chose the Union Jack for this design. Partially inspired by the First Edition emblem by Bentley (though I’m personally not a fan of the “1” in the middle, see example below), I loved the idea of having the Union Jack on the Jag. Nothing obnoxiously large (like some stickers we all have seen), rather a hint at the Jaguar heritage—iirc the steel body XJ40 platform was the last design when Jag still British! (Though I do appreciate Ford for making the electronics less catastrophic)
So I made this, it’s like the Jag’s “gentle nod to its own history.” I’m pretty satisfied how it turned out to be! The clip mechanisms to make it fit into the stock mount is tricky to replicate, so was the oval-rectangular shape, but the end result is pretty sharp looking. I especially like the aspect ratio, it matches the low and long stance of the Jag. I’m really happy with how it turned out!
First prototype, looks better than I expected!

So now I’ve made this flat emblem to install on the car to 1. Fill up the hole on my fender and 2. Test how the design looks in its actual size. Ran a few design iterations to finalize on the line and gap width of the emblem. I plan to make one with the Union Jack submerged in resin for a better 3D look like the OE Jag emblem.
Im curious how you think of it. Since my friends have already ordered a few pairs of them, I might just make a whole bunch of them and see how popular they are. It fits all x308’s and my friend will try it on a x300 soon to see if that works too. I’ll update this thread once the 3D resin emblem is done .

My US spec does not have side marker lights, so i dont have the bulb nor the amber cover to modify on. Im pretty sure i can convert one if i can get a stock side marker light tho.
Colored ones does look better on their own sitting on a shelf. I made one earlier but decided to not put it on the car because it didn’t go well with the black and chrome overall tone. I think it would look great on a white or burgundy one
