Voltage regulator signal fix

Voltage regulator signal fix
All, If you are plagued with a voltage regulator that puts out an erroneous "not charging" signal like I am, you can fix this fairly easily. My alternator is charging just fine (multiple tests), only the warning signal is bad.
The output wire (color slate/white on my 98) should be providing 12 volts to the instrument cluster. On mine this was only about 6 volts. I corrected it by supplying 12 volts from a switched circuit.
I did this by tapping the signal wire in the wire harnass by the right side injectors. Then fed the wire to the relay bank where the engine control module lives over the right foot well.
I expect that if the alternator really fails, I will be notified by the car failing to start. Meantime I have rid the car of the annoying on again off again "Battery not charging" message.
