This does look like a great example. But I remember when I'd look at Craigslist in LA, and it seems like you could find similar examples for around 1/3 the price? I never pulled the trigger, but my logic was 100k+ cars generally had all the maintenance performed religiously... It certainly didn't hurt that the ones I'm thinking about were pictured in front of zillion-dollar homes in Malibu... what do you think? Did the buyer over pay? More info here.

I don't think so, mine is a made to order 2000 SC VDP. I don't see anything about flex discs, tensioners, water pump, bushing or shock replacement. Makes a big deal about a massively outdated navigation system. Its a $5k-8k car at best, barring those upgrades and a complete review underneath. But then again, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

7-8K is fair for me.

Fast forward 7-8 years & plausible.

Made in relatively limited numbers here in the US, but 130,000 miles, and as HighHorse points out, no mention of flex discs, tensioners, water pump, bushings or shocks being done.

Even an admitted "noted wear" description. Obvious wear showing on the steering wheel.

No accent piping on the seats?

Assuming the necessary fixes have not been done, nice car, but I'm at 7K tops.

There is a nice bridge in Brooklyn that I would be willing to sell him.

Yeah, that's my take too.

I was watching that car on bring a trailer. Certainly didn't expect it to go that high.

I hadn't heard of "Bring a Trailer", so checked it out.....pretty interesting, thanks for posting the info.

Looking at the site, the subject car of this initial thread has had extensive work done to it, tensioners, water pump, radiator, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, fuel pumps, shocks, suspension bushes, driveline overhaul & headliner. So maybe the price wasn't that out of the ballpark.

This standard XJR with only 56K miles, which has had the tensioner/waterpump upgrade, sold for $10,500, despite some admitted bodywork painting and some interior wear. . They certainly seem to bring top prices on the site.
