Default Vvt noise?

So I have this noise I'm trying to pin down.. Warmed up engine is silent.. From starting to idle to red line no noise... Over night cold start quite until a few seconds after starting light tapping... Drive through apartment complex just light tapping.. First rev to 2500 loud tapping for a couple seconds then boom gone and everything is silent.. Runs normal.. Had a look at guides a few thousand miles so e and looked perfect....

Sounds like secondary tensioners.

Why would it be quite until 2500 rpm and then noise for only a couple of seconds and then silent the rest of the day..I would think it would make noise from the get go and all the way up to 2500... It's like something is being engaged

Because if they are original still, they were made with plastic. It depends on how badly the plastic may be cracked? Mine had fine cracks, but my guides were trashed and I only had a slight rowel at idle. Simply removing the valve covers for inspection will help you determine your situation.

Ok, have you tried unplugging the VVT to see if the noise disappears?
Here's a reference, it may not throw a code for awhile.

The more I think about it the more I'm wondering if it is my belt or tensioner making the noise.. The belt is a Napa brand one about a year old.. Might have gotten antifreeze on it this past summer during a hose replacement.. The tensioner and idler pulley both appear original

That mistake didn't cost you anything, your lucky, it doesn't hurt to double check.

We'll see tomorrow morning but I think that took care of it.. Replaced the bushings went to work but turned down the radio and listened.. Huh sounds like power steering.. Get to work which is a short drive.. Check power steering and the level is low.. The part of the drive when it would make sound is right out side my apartment so still cold and aggressive up hill

Well noise is still there... Most likely the power steering pump.. Going to ignore for now as it's mostly fine
