Default warning light on after brake light replacement to cree led 1157

i wanted to convert the brake light to led. got Cree LED light 1157 but once installed the check tail light warning came out. Goggled for some answers and some said i might need the resistor or LED decoder

another question is that our x308 tail light is one-piece socket panel , I dont know how to install the decoder in this situation

please help

You need to install resistors in both lines to the rear brake lights. You should have received the resistors in the box with the lights if you ordered them specifically for your car.

Here's a pic of the resistor that you need.

Vincent:
The problem is that the LEDs use less current thatn a regular bulb and the blown bulb circuit thinks the bulb has blown. So you must parallel a resistor with the bulb to pull the additonal current and make the bulb detect circuit happy/

I think this resistor is the same - Radio Shack 5W4D7 - 5W 4.7 OHM 5% - Model: 5W4D7 | Catalog #: 55047951

5W4D7 - 5W 4.7 OHM 5% Resistor : Resistors | RadioShack.com

Try calling your local radioshack store.

The power socket that connects to the bulbs has two wires, positive and negative. The resistor is strapped across the two wires, so one end of the resistor is soldered to the positive wire and the other end of the resistor is soldered to the negative wire.

sorry to ask another dumb question, our X308 taillight socket is a"one-piece-panel"

does it mean I have to solder the resister on the panel?
