Default Warning lights

I had warning lights come recently for about 6 hours. The lights were the ABS light and where the odometer displays it alternated between "NO ASC" and "TRAC NOT AVAILABLE"

Turning off the car didn't reset the warnings at first, but then later they did not come back on startup. There was no other symptoms, brakes or otherwise, except that the TRAC button was not functional when the warning was on. It's been two days and the lights have still not returned.

Likely reason for these combined warnings to appear and then go away?

I am getting some brake wear noise (slight squeal on braking occasionally) and know it is time for new pads and rotors. Nothing awful though.

Mileage is about 63k. Insights greatly appreciated.

Have your battery load tested, and the car scanned for fault codes at a Dealer or independant who has a WDS or IDS system. The rest is guesswork at this point.

Thanks for your recommendation. I will take care of the brakes to be safe and, if it happens again, get a readout.

Many times it's the connection between the ABS sensor and connector. Make sure the connection is clean and tight. Also make sure the ABS sensor cable (rear brakes) is securely mounted in the bracket (the same bracket that holds the rear brake hoses. They have tendency to slip out of the bracket creating extra tension at the connector causing a loose connection which will be just enough to trip that message you're getting intermittingly. That's the first thing our techs would check.

Thanks Wazari, I will track those connections down.
