I see you've already lit your foot wells, nice job. What did you tap into for that? It's something I wouldn't mind adding to work with the courtesy lights
Yes, tapped them in the courtesy lights, front from the ceiling, rear from the rear lights on C pillar (wires are under the rear cushion).
So they come on with the door open (and with the interior light button), and fade away with the same time delay.
Should have been standard on a Vanden Plas ....

Still looking for something more recessed, although that might be hard to find due to the bulb size required if not going LED.
I agree with the light under the bonnet. But i strongly agree with connecting it to a Bonnet Open switch. Does anyone have a Bonnet Open part number switch?

Yes, that seems to be the one Jaguar used in some cases, I think in combination with the later alarms, or with the more extensive alarm for some countries.
If you look at the engine bay of Stu, you can see the switch in front of the air filter box, yours is probably just a hole.
That's also the way I will do, just need a switched plus to connect, there is perhaps already one in the right side light loom, never checked so far.

Disregard the circles, and see the switch in front of the air box, it sticks out of the cross member, above the A/C dryer.
There are many universal type switches available on eBay, I've got a link to one here. You can cut it to size to make sure it works correctly, and it'll probably last longer than the original. My area of concern with the idea of putting lamps under the bonnet on the X308 is the heat factor. The V8 produces a lot of heat, you'd have to be sure that whatever you fit under there can withstand high temperatures. The ones in the photo I added above are sold new by Jaguar, but are also widely available without Jaguar Branding. I've added a close up of the switch in question to make sure you're all on the same page.
Mine has no sensor. How would I add it in. There is no way there could be a 'plug n play.
I guess the switch you showed is either a click-in, or it has a threaded top so you can tight it down after installing from underneath.
It can't be complicated.
Then, there might be a wire in the the right cable loom (I never checked the electric diagram on this position), otherwise you will need to bring a wire from a switched-plus to the switch, then an other wire from the switch under the bonnet cover to the lighting fixture.
The bonnet cover can be easily partially removed, it is held by pressed clips.
Then you can ground on the bonnet, or bring the wire back to the switch and use a ground somewhere there.
When I had the LED lighting installed (now removed), I used a hole in the bonnet, and a hole in the cross member (close to a hinge) to bring the wires up.
Used a plastic, harmonic hose to protect those, looked factory standard, and prevented the wires from being pinched.
Had the same thing happen on my '07 XK coupe many years ago. There is 'switch' where the hood latches down; one on each side. Mine was left side; made a temp. fix; can't remember how, sorry (i'm 87!). A broken wire or connector I think. If you look closely you should see the problem.!

When the bonnet open light comes on and the hood is not open, there is a hood security switch, part number C2D27159 that we keep in stock because it's so common on the earlier Jaguars to fail. If your alarm has randomly gone off, that's another sign that the hood security switch has failed. Parking brake faults are the bane of my existence! Good Luck!
