Default Washer fluid reservoir fatality grrr,

Hit a major dip in the road then heard a crunch I kept on, heard a scrub. Pulled over to see washer fluid streaming from under car, container hanging a inch from ground. Tried to semi-secure it up higher to no avail. Drove it half a mile to home lost the bottom half of reservoir. Since my nozzle was already out now I guess I'll tackle both @ once.

Anyone know what I'll need to secure a new one in place and also I seen some wiring attached was frayed to the copper. Links & diagrams would be much appreciated.

Did I mention this was directly after a dentist appointment lol. Upon closer inspection this has happened before as the under apron was scraped & frayed.

Anyone know the fuse for the windshield washer reserve pump as I don't want any current going through those frayed wires.

Thanks in advance.

How fast were you going? The under tray must have been almost non existent for the bottle to fall to the road.

Negative just a cheap city government lol the roads around here are horrible & getting worse with every heavy rain fall, now we're in the tropical storm & hurricane season it's all down hill lol. Could've been worse it could've damaged my operating system IE radiator etc. that's first thing I thought as I had that happen with a lowered Mitsubishi w/ 2,500$ rims & it wrecked radiator,2 rims, crossmember & trailing arm lol. I try & keep note of the bad spots but here lately they are popping up daily.

My book shows fuse number 7 engine bay fuse box as the power wash fuse. BUT that is for UK spec 98 XJR, so may not be the same as yours. You may be 3000 odd miles away on the other side of the Atlantic, but the councils seem to have the same agenda on fixing the roads. It really gets up my nose to see 2 men pull up to a pothole in a van, one then gets out and paints a blue line around it and then they drive off !!! Why not put some cold lay tarmac in the hole ?

Indeed you can actually see the lines where the asphalt has been worn away by streaming rain runoff it looks like several winding black tar rivers snaking down at least 60% of the city streets. Some have no meaningful drop off, others are akin to a sink hole.
In fact last time I was pulled by a police officer it was because he said I "made a sudden jerky move out of my lane that looked suspicious " I kindly explained to him I was tired of destroying quality vehicles & their components on these minefields called streets lol. He nodded in agreement & let me go lol.

After my jaw heals & I am off the pain meds I will post pics here of these streets if anyone thinks I am exaggerating lol. There's a well known author that lives here that drives a Phantom. I cringe everytime I see it out on the road lol.

Last year, after a hard winter, there was a lot of frost/ ice damage to the roads in Croydon. On my road the council came and repaired the speed humps, even extending one nice repair to one speed hump into a pothole ! When I called to ask why , I was told they left the potholes because it kept the speed down in a residential area ! I live on a road with a 20MPH speed limit ???

Thanks as I don't want any current going through frayed wiring.

Anybody know an estimate of how long it should take to replace the washer bottle, pump, nozzle & under tray. I don't want to take a bath @ the shop.

Thanks

It's easy enough to do yourself. Just take a few hours. You will find it relaxing and satisfying. Maybe.

Ok quick ? if I hold off on replacing the under tray will I still be able to mount a new reservoir & pump or is the undertray the shelf like support for it.

Also noticed my fog lights are no longer working wonder how close that wiring is to where the scrub took place. Although I have not checked the fuse.

On further inspection the other side's wheel well splash guard's also shredded, looks like this car's had previous domestic abuse history with inclined drive-ways &/or parking curbs lol.

Did find a nice used washer bottle w/ pump for 48.00$ total on E-Bay so @ least I can shut that worrisome "Low Washer Fluid" light off lol.

The windshield washer reservoir is installed by removing the RH wheelarch liner, then removing front undertray, then position reservoir (below and up through welded mounting plate located in front of and below air cleaner box) aligning with BIW holes and fit and tighten the four securing bolts.

To get a larger view of the following images (in the JPEG files)
Just click on the image
or
Right click on image, then take "Open link in new tab" option. Then open the new tab and view the enlarged image.

Here is a JPEG file showing the parts list for the components of the reservoir:

I reckon you guys need to drive Humvees around these obstacles course you call streets ;o)=)
Never fear, it's no diferent here....fine for the city council to extract the rate demands but a very small percentage is fed back into street maintanance....seesm to be a world wide occurrance these days and witht he modern cars so much lower and fancy airdams and such, it's a daily occurrance.
No wonder insurrance co's make a fortune.

Yes this is vehicle #2 on the same street @ least this time it didn't affect it's drive ability etc. Last time it rendered my @ the time favorite ride out of commission, I was very agitated lol.

Could someone tell me where the "washer fluid sensor" is located, I just inspected & I'm wondering if the frayed wire will have me on another part seeking mission. After I get this done (washer reservoir, pump), I don't want to still be stuck with that awful "Low Washer Fluid" light lol.
