Default Water from car wash coming in through the gas pedal area

So I've only owned my 1999 XRJ a week, took it through a drive through car wash this weekend and while I'm sitting there the heat was on and all of a sudden I could hear a noise like the fans were swooshing water. Figured that can't be good so I turned off the heat. The later I noticed pant leg was wet and wen and check and the drivers side floor was pretty wet. Anyone experience this before? Is it normal for water to find it's way into the AC/heat fan area?

Edit, I see now there have been a couple of posts about this same issue.

Pull back the carpet and see what is causing the inflow. Then see if
you can fix/repair it. This is not a common occurrence.

Seems like the mostly likely cause is clogged drains under the wiper blade cowl. I'll be checking them later.

This is very likely the problem.

That probably is the source of the water although some would say the problem is using a car wash…

PS I know that’s not always an option for all of us - the comment is meant to be nothing more than humorous.

While you have the cowl panel off, I would suggest taking a closer look at the pedal box as well. There’s a seal where the pedals meet the firewall.
