Just an update,
Been chasing a leak for the past couple of months, having to add coolant every so often(about a 1 cup or so) and seeing it drip about where it would come from the water pump.
Figured it can't be that since I just replaced it.
Wrong. I could not see anything from the seep hole, have been checking and replacing hoses...but of all things it was coming from the freeze plug. I couldn't see it unit I removed the belt and pulley and got a mirror to see underneath.
Oh well, at least its an easy job.

Have you noticed much corrosion to the internal alloy passages when you replaced the pump?

That's what I thought! I have put maybe 5k miles on her since I replaced the water pump. I use and have used only the orange coolant, I buy from Ford as it's about 1/5 of the price compared to buying it from Jaguar. No corrosion was evident. It looked like brand new when I pulled it apart.

Not sure how I could tell if stamped or cast. The reason I bought the Airtex is that most people seem to recommend the white plastic impeller over the metal ones found on most of the cheap Chinese units. Everyone agrees that black plastic is the worst of the bunch.

i just received an Airtex pump from Amazon. It has the metal impeller, not the white plastic. Wondering if I should send it back and try to find the white plastic one, maybe from the Ford dealer.
(BTW, the one I received is made in China as I guess they all are these days).

ad neaseum.....whether they be white plastic or cast metal (which is in yours)
The big issue is the type of coolant used and how long it's let go before change.
Practically every problem encounted with these pumps is down to lack of maintanance or cheap and nasty coolants.

I agree that the metal impeller would probably be fine although I have read that the OAT coolant does not have the anti-cavitation agents needed for metal impellers.
In any event, I already sent back the Airtex and ordered an AC-Delco to replace it. Even if they both use metal impeller (I am not sure until it arrives), the Delco unit comes with factory type gasket and the rubber o-ring whilst the Airtex just has paper gasket.

I received the Ac-Delco unit today. Made in USA, and did not have the blocked port defect that Chris experienced. It did come with the metal gasket and the rubber o-ring. The impeller is indeed metal but is definitely cast unlike the airtex which is pressed steel. Looks to be better made for whatever that is worth. I will certainly wind up installing this unit. Photo attached.

Many members seem to indicate that the Airtex with the white plastic impeller is the same unit that Jaguar currently sells through the dealer. Others have indicated that the AC-Delco is an exact match to the pump they removed from the vehicle.
Odds are prety good that Jaguar does not manufacture these but is reselling a part made by someone else.

Do post some pics or at least a description. Did it indicate country of manufacture / assembly.

I got the same waterpump from AC DELCO.
I am not sure if yours did the same thing, but when I hand turned the propeller it was sort of stiff.
This is one of the ports. the other side is the same way. I think you do need to return yours. I am tempted to kind of grind that rounded spot out. seems to be part of casting mode when made.
