Saw this at a traffic light opposite the Beverly Hills Hotel a while ago and snapped a picture before the light changed.

I'm not sure if someone imported a foreign police car or simply decided that they had to have an orange stripe on their car?

Also, can anyone tell if it's an x300 or an x308?

 

Interesting paint job. It’s an X308 and it looks like it has chrome side mirrors and chrome Asteroid wheels. A lot of dealers in California offered to have the wheels chromed so it may be a California car. If that’s the case, the paint job would just be custom and not some law enforcement car from another country. Were any X308’s used for law enforcement anywhere in the world? I don’t remember ever seeing photos of any.

 

Looks much like British police cars XJ6 and XJ40 (of the period).
