Default Went to the dealer today - floor mats and speakers

I thought I'd stop by the local Jag dealership today just to see what they charge for floor mats and front speakers for my '03 XJ8.

Floor mats are $166 for the 4 piece set.

Speakers are about $52 each.

Then I went to a local car audio place that was recommended to me by the Jaguar service rep -- they want $120 for the two speakers and a couple hours for installation at $75 per hour for a total of just under $300, which beats the dealership installation which was two hours at $120 per hour for a total of almost $350. So much for trying to save a few bucks! Although, the audio guy told me that if I got the speakers from Jaguar they'd put them in for me -- made it sound like he could install the Jag speakers in an hour! LOL

I'm going to get floor mats online -- the parts guy at the dealership figured out the color I need, so that'll make the ordering a lot easier.

I might just order the speakers from the dealership and install them myself, but I have to figure out if it makes sense to do that just to save $150 (or would it be $75?!!!). Would be nice if people could just give a straight answer.

That's it for now, just wanted to pass this along to all of you! LOL

You could probably install your own speakers inside of 30 minutes. Removing the door cards is not hard, there are many posts about it on the Forum. Use the search tool. You could probably get the speakers cheaper if you looked round.

30 Minutes is not a made up estimate, as I have installed an entire interior for a XJ8, including headliner, trims, front & Rear seats, rear shelf, transmission tunnel and all four door cards in under 2 hours.

You're absolutely right -- under 30 minutes. I had the guy at the audio store crimp the speaker wires on for me so all I had to do was plug the wires into the speakers and screw them on -- the door panels were very easy to remove and put back on, thanks to the great advice and how-tos in this forum! Thanks everyone! Now I have new speakers and can listen to tunes.

Next on the agenda -- floor mats. But I'll probably wait until I get back to Florida to do anything about those.
