Hello Jaguar family!

I'm loving the hell out of my XJ8-L the previous owner brought 4 brand new general altimax tires. They look cool but I'm not sure they are the "best" option for this car.

I did get 24 mpg with this 4 liter v8 which is incredible and ride feels smooth but I'm wondering what you all think

 

I have General Altimax on the Duchess and have never regretted it. They yield a quiet ride with plenty of traction
and they wear quite nicely as well. You can spend a lot more for small gains but that is a personal choice.

 

This is kind of one of those “which engine oil is best?” threads.You’ll get many different opinions. If they’re new tires, it rides well and handles well, why bother? If you feel like you need to upgrade in a few more years, then that should be the time.

 

I had Altimax on my '97 X300L and they were wonderful. Tried them on an X350 and they were a disaster (one tire had a seriously non-linear tread groove). I'm pondering Michelin something or other from Costco, or Continentals elsewhere, but would be willing to take a shot on the General's again knowing I could return them for a set of the others if need be.
