I agree...there are filters and there are filters ;o]
Undoubtedly, they all fit and assumedly all work....but the difference is in HOW WELL they work!
There are many brands of filters that claim to do the job but you cut a few open and examione their contents and it becomes a real eye opener 8-()
It' down to cost...thinner casings, poorer quality filter medium, cheaper rubber/plastic anti drain back valves and quite a few do not use pressure relief valves..(that's the one you see or should see at the base of the filter)
Use an el cheapo on your old clumker sure but we are talking about sophisticated expensive high end engineering here and they deserve the best filter....why be penny/cent wise and pound/dollar foolish.
You pays yer money and makes yer choice.......your call ;o]

Found royal purple oil filters have that mesh backing your referring to used to use wix xp for that reason had trouble finding anything similar but royal purple came through just as i was starting to give in to a regular filter idk if it is stigma or not but i feel a good quality oil filter and oil from a good quality brand will keep your engine healthier over time i believe this firmly so spend the $ itll help you avoid $2000 years down the line 👍
