I am awaiting their final results and offer. IF they really say it is worthless, then I'll get my own appraiser and Jaguar expert in to check on this. They have to pay him no matter what happens.

He borrowed his dads Toyota.. il bet he got grounded..

Japaneese chickenshit...

The Toyota more or less fragmented itself.. The Jaguar is still beautiful and charming.

Daim, never go with the first offers from an Insurance agent...

I had a fight with my insurancecompany a year agoo.. A Toyota hit me when i was standing still, waiting to make a left turn.. he hit me from behind on the right side. The damage on my Jag was at best moderate.. he undid my rear bumper, crinkled the exhaust, cracked the rh rear lightglas and made dents in the bootlid and under the rear light..
The insurancecompany had a look at it and decided to scrap it. Needless to say, i refused that deal ofcourse. The Insurance agents wants to make Quick decisions, hand out as little money as possible and move on to the next case..

They argued like this: if the cost for repair is more than 75% of the value of the car, they dont do anything.. The problem was that they tried to establish the value of my car by checking how other cars like mine was priced on various sistes on the internet... so.. other crap cars stood as reference.. and then, when they calculated the cost for repair they only consider buying brand new parts from a dealer plus manhours for doing the repair... I refused..

The agent, also an "expert" couldnt tell the difference between a XJ6, Executive, XJR or a Daimler.. or a horses ***.

In the end i kept my car and got Money in hand. They estimated the rapaircost to 65000SEK (7000@$) i got it repaired and painted for less than 10000SEK (1000$). I bought an salvage car, stripped it bare on everything i needed and sold the rest (a Shell with a working drivetrain).. ended up with money left over..

Found the valve incorporated into the heater hose that wraps around the back of the engine had started leaking coolant down the trans onto the ground and exhaust. Bypassed with a barbed coupler and good to go. Didn't even have to disconnect the Norma connections

Hahaha intercoolers give a bit more sturdy real estate to work with, it may take ballet shoes to pull that off on a n/a 4.0

Last thing on my list yesterday before racing onSaturday was to change oil, "suck and fill" ps and brake fluid, then check front end ball joints/tie rods/bushings. Glad I did, sure enough the pass side tie rod end was toast. Last nights late night entertainment

3rd week has passed, no answer from the insurance...

So my car is sitting at the workshop waiting for a yay or nay so I can decide to fit my overhauled tranny or not...

This is really annoying. At least I'm mobile...

Ran the VDP up to Montreal and back this week to see the other half. Nice little 1200km round trip. Continues to defy the death rattle.

The '100' is getting the secondary fuel pump and sender done today. It'll be nice to see how much petrol is actually in the tank at any given time! Still trying to sort out my filling issues...

This weekend I took the car for a drive around to a few places on Saturday, which was thoroughly enjoyable. One thing that caught my eye was the left mirror was a bit lazy when unfolding, so I took that apart slightly to grease and tighten up. Now it operates strongly and in perfect time with it's counterpart on the right side.

Today I took the car to a local petrol station to use their air pump to inflate the space saver which needs to be 60psi, good thing I did as it was on 34psi. I checked the air on the road wheels too so now everything is at the right level. I then gave her a wash and put the cover on to protect the paint and interior from the sun.

According to the insurance my car was worth before the crash a whopping €211!

Now nothing. So off I go to the solicitors and appraisers...

wow, good luck with that, I wouldn't be too concerned at this point, maybe look at getting the rebuilt trans fitted and start looking for cheap parts to fix it so you're back on the road.

And what was the German logic to come to this exact amount?

Well the logic behind the German masterminds here was, that the car isn't worth anything as a car and only scrap metal. A perfectly running car was nudged by a van. That is enough to turn it into scrap here. They are writing it off...

And according to them, I can go out and buy a new one in the same condition for less than €3000. I don't know where I can buy one with an LPG system which alone costs €3000 to buy and install and with all the illness these cars habe all sorted...

Well, I'm now just going to go ahead and get the bugger sorted again... Will be rather colourful for a little while but better than no Jag (I'm mobile with a darn VW Touareg but I don't like them).

So I understand they offer 3k, the value of the LPG system?
Well, seems you got a good fight in hand, nothing much to loose if that is the starting point ... Go for it!

Bits and pieces.. had no hydraulic press so i carefully klubbed everything out..

Discolouration and rollers not round any more..

Replaced right hand rear wheelbearing yesterday evening.. took me a soloid 5 hours... i hope shave of an hour or so this evening when im doing the left rear.

I now know where the 90kmh (56mph) vibrations came from.. the bearing have been running for quite some time with almost no grease left and has been overheated to the point of rollers starting to get deformed.. That most likely happend on a longer distance... then later, just driving around in the home area i have had the vibration issue..

When checking the bearing.. the rollers are not 100% round any more..

With the left rear bearing replaced im hoping to get rid of the 110kmh (70mph) hum when accelerating..

/E
