Since my water pump has been replaced, I have yet to refill any water. Before I would be topping it up every ~3 months. You'd always have that smeel in the engine bay. You know, that sweet smell of coolant evaporating.

On my list for the coming week:
- ARB replacement (front)
- new ARB bushes (front and rear)
- new ARB endlinks (front and rear)

Not really much, but knowing my car, it won't be very fun!

Was working on getting my new third brake light in place in order to get inspection done next week. My harness connector is under the rear shelf ... no amount of prying or fiddling of the shelf allowed it to come through (if it's even there) ..... had to cut the wires. Now to try and re-glue the tabs or replace the glass.

Since I had the whole trunk apart searching for the brake light wires -- opened up the loom going to the trunk lid to address an occasional trunk light issue. There are eleven (11) wires for the lid ! Two (2) were already broken and three (3) more ...almost. Just as the loom enters the hinge under the plastic trim.

Default It's only taken 5 years :-)

New mic! :-)
Got a new mic from eBay for £10, popped it in today and completely cured all of my issues with the phone, not being heard and having to shout.
If only I did it 5 years ago! Smiley face came free obviously

Default Enjoyment..and praise..

My day was yesterday. My newly acquired xj8L was a rescue disguised as an insurance replacement after my project xj8L was clipped by a young girl still learning to drive on snow and ice. So yesterday was a good weather day for getting started. The two cars(kept the one for parts) have identical interiors with a few more amenities in the dashed one. I switched the driver side door panel, reworked the handle cable for smoother action and continuity at the eye level. Lubricated the mechanism and made sure all connections were good..which returned the power mirror adjustments.. smile.. Though I wanted to switch the ignition key cylinder I ended up repairing the speakers in all four doors and going for a lovely ride before dark..
Today,if it doesn't snow..the key cylinder..
I am so glad to find so many folks who love thier Jags..and work on them too..had the former owner of this car not sold it..well..another sad story. I look forward to being here. Oh..by the way.. any reccomendations on good quality and reasonable price on the 3rd gen tensioners, timing chains kit, gaskets included. And same for water pump..it's getting to be that time..

Good to hear the Jag survives, albeit in another car!

Christopher's Foreign Car Parts on e-bay, high quality parts, everything you need in one package. And great customer phone support.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/JAGUAR-V8-4...item56a1d13017

Metal water pump, just do an e-bay search there are many to choose from starting at around $25.00

Default Jaguar has souls?

What a bummer...

My Jaguar has never everevereveeeer.. refused to start.. it has peformed beautifully througout the years i have had the pleasure to own it..

But.. the time has come for some change... i have to let you go.. im sorry old friend.. you are fine, but you just have no compressor..

I have had an ad out for some time now... it has been visited 13000 times.. today somone called.. and wanted to come by tomorrow and have a look at it and hopefully, happily drive away.. while my wallet yells; KA-CHIING!

...was just going to take it for a spin to the gas station and by some batteries for the keyfobs.. the least i can do.. its already cleaned out and looks like a million bucks..

Then, the damn "beeep" "beep" and "beep" and a s of a "beep" wont start!... it just will not start!
It crank nicely.
With some starting gas in the manifold, it starts, runs for 5 seconds and then dies like an austronaut trying to breathe in space.. So troubleshooting ahead then...

I think it overheard me talking to the buyer, and decided that it just dont want to leave..

What I would give for a junkyard around here with an XJ in it...

Went out and replaced my MAF unit with one I picked up on ebay, and double checked all the connections on the intake tubing. Other than some slight outside cracking on the breather connection to the cover (not all the way through the rubber yet), there was no real issue to be found. I found that if I yanked REAL hard on one part it shifted the slightest bit but I can't believe that it was causing my issues. But hopefully this replacement sensor will fix my issues. Or at least get me to limp past inspection this week so that I have another year to tackle the rest. I'm sadly a month away from being able to put any serious money back into the car, so I'm just driving on a prayer these days.

Put some chrome side mirror covers. It really sets it off in my opinion. What do you think?

I had front shocks replaced by new ones. It is like driving a brand new car now.

They were standard on the later cars (I have 2x 02's) -- mine are likewise silver and the chrome is nice.

Bumper resprayed & mesh inserts installed. I also went back to my old tires in hopes of ruling out the last remaining suspension noises.
