Nice work, Paul, I can imagine all (now invisible) work that went in it.

I noticed that the area under the hood, where it meets the hood hinges at the radiator, was dirty, so removed the fiber/plastic radiator support that runs the length of the front brace, and spent some time cleaning and polishing that area.

Took some pics which I thought looked good.

It looks fantastic indeed, you are even more crazy than I am ...

Can you do me a favor?
Can you make a pic of the labels at the coolant and brake reservoir?
I think they can still be ordered, but i want to be sure I get the correct ones.
Thank you.

LOL, thank you, I'll take that as a compliment, my wife says I'm not crazy, just "eccentric"!

Eric, I think there is only one OEM label, and that is the coolant label......which I have attached a pic of below...

The brake reservoir labeling is embossed in the plastic cover............

I, due to my "eccentricity", have added simple printed labels to remind me not to accidentally pour brake fluid in the coolant reservoir and visa versa, etc.

Pentas touched down, I'm still in decision mode between Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 & Vogue Signature V Ultra High Performance tires. I drove an XJR w/ the vogues & it was so quiet yet responsive so I'm leaning towards them.

Thank you CK, appreciated!
It is just one day too late as I ordered some parts yesterday for an other Daimler of my friend, but will check on availability, and have one ordered the next time.
You see, I am eccentric as well, at least a bit ... and so is King Charles with his shiny new rims and tires, and his glasses

What tire size are you going to use on these? 245/45 or 255/40?

Yeah my current concubine scoffed @ my tire choices "Vogue I think you mean vain,,," little does she know her replacement is already lined up for 2019 lol.

At the risk of offending all XJR owners, consider to use 245/45

- The 1 cm width difference is not something you will notice while driving, nor see (I honestly don't even really notice the 275 I wrestled on the rear),
- The 245/45 has the same outside tire diameter as the good old 16" 225/60. That gives just that nice fill of the wheel wells, where 255/40 are free floating.
- And practically, a 245 fits nicer on a 8" rim than a 255 does.

Duly noted, we have terrible roads here, akin to mine fields so maybe a little space would be beneficial lol. I'm also planning on lowering springs very soon I'm going to decide on tires within the next few hours.

If that is true, than you should definitely go for the 245, their side wall is slightly higher, providing a better protection for your rim lips.

Researching now, my priority is comfort vs track maneuvering on public streets lol. I definitely don't want these pristine Pentas beat up via potholes on the inaugural run lol. The thing is when you go down what I like to call the "Internet Tire Rabbit Hole" researching, there are so many varying opinions & many are spouted via people w/ different end goals than what I seek. I know you're a comfort guy whom knows his machine so I take your guidance far more relative to my end game.

After going down the 245/45 rabbit hole I'm now leaning towards Continental PureContact LS a grand touring all season offering that rates high in the comfort/noise control zone without sacrificing all of it's sporty feel. The more I think about the roads here, the more I drift towards the touring class (pun intended) lol.

Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus are also resonating in my 245 search.

Edit :

Thinking these Pentas will visibly expose my brakes much more than before so I'm scouting new rotors & pads as well, thinking the shiny rotors w/ the EBC Greenstuff pads would be sharp. Probably best to get all that done together @ once.

I've spent more hours hunched over my PC desk the last 2 days researching tires than I'd like to admit. But the jazzy Jaguar eyeglasses have kept the eye strain @ a minimum lol.

KC, for what it's worth, I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus tires on my 2001 VDP (stock 225/60/16 size) and I am very pleased with them. I'm a comfort guy, but am also known to lapse into short bursts of attempted imitations of Stirling Moss/Jackie Stewart, etc. The Pirellis are quiet, track perfectly, handle well, and are reasonably priced. I have 5,000 miles on them so far. We all know that Jaguar saloons are notorious for being fickle about tires and they don't take kindly to cheap imitations, Michelins and Pirellis being the two favorites that seem to suit these cars, and Michelins are just so expensive, making the Pirellis a favorite choice. I did try some Falkens, and they were horrible, extremely noisy, and didn't handle, and also some Hankooks, but they handled like crap and were also noisy (although, in their defense they were one of Hankooks cheaper tire type), but the Pirelli P7s were immediately and obviously a far superior tire and the car instantly felt right.

Yes right now it's between , in no order :

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S Plus
Continental PureContact LS

Surprisingly the Michelins have the lowest price due to them being a display set.

The Michelin's that came on my replacment XJ-S rims (17x8J) are of the Pilot Sport A/S model, but they are so tightly made that their dimensions are like a 235 tire.
No wonder they are cheaper

Wait so you're saying the 245/45/18s won't run true to size ?! It's a local Michelin showroom they also have 255/40 Pilot AS' @ display rates as well.

Just that some mfr tires have slight variances in their dimensions, sidewall height, etc, even between same sizes. On the general they should be close enough, but there are always some brands that will be one side of the measurement or the other.
