I remember driving as a young poor boy on tires that were low mileage but 25 or 30 years old without issue .
In recent years it seems tires start to disintegrate Crack and dry rot much quicker regardless of miles. A shame for what they cost for good ones .
Just like beer , they never used to have an expiration date.
I just put new shoes on 4 vehicles recently. Ouch!!!
Yeah the downside of our new "disposable" culture.
Looks like I lost all my purchase paperwork as I'm pretty sure I got the 2 year roadside hazard warranty, go figure lol.

Discount Tire uses both a patch & a separate plug.
I buy road hazard insurance from Discount Tire for all new tires, even tires that came with a new car. Yes, they will sell it even though you didn't buy the tire from them.
I hope it is repairable.
If not, you need 2 new tires & the good one, from the same axle, with only 5300 miles, will become your spare. (I assume you do have the spare wheel)
Plug & patched it was a tiny nail still embedded. I'll keep an eye on it going forward.

Yes that shop was a ghost town too, they were gung-ho to see a customer there lol.
Developed a spongy brake pedal Friday, no visible leaks @ proper fluid level etc. Booked a mobile company to come flush it this morning. They did so & it's back perfect, tech said there was air in the rear left. Came to my house & $5 cheaper than Jiffy Lube, I deem this a win lol.
Exactly a month later it's returned. I guess now my main suspect is a compromised line or cylinder somewhere letting air in. Will book an appt. for a thorough brake inspection soon.

Dug into the interior to track down an intermittent electrical short.
J/k...... I've pretty much taken the car apart and stacked it in a corner of my garage. My wife is on me to get the car out of the garage before it gets cold. I have a ton of good parts left that are becoming more difficult to find so I pulled everything and boxed it up. The scrap yard said they can send a flat bed so I'll pull the front wheels in a few days and have it towed away. May be last chance for body parts before the shell is gone.
And I did pull the entire wire harness. I have never seen so much wire in my life.....

I have now had two go due to the capacitors on the circuit board failing and eating the circuits. Also are those side view mirrors power folding? My Rear View mirror is also toast, the magic juice is gone to turn the electrochromic.

I hear you, I'm always scanning craigslist and other sites to see if there is a deal out there. I started with a carnival red 99 XJ8 L and then picked up a low mileage BRG 99 XJ8. I thought I was done for a while but a Black on Black low mileage 99 XJR came up for sale 10 miles from me so I considered it a sign as I loved that car since I was 18. I sold the Carnival red as the paint had begun to fade and it had over 135K (still running great). I use an old Camry for work commutes to keep the miles down but sometimes I wish I kept the XJ8 L to see how far she would go.
I'm changing the front and rear shocks, stabilizer bar links and mounts. on my 2001. (118 thousand miles) New tires solved my ride problems except rough jarring over bumps. One rear left to remove from vehicle, medium difficulty job. The shocks look very worn, rubber destroyed. photo I'm optimistic that this will smooth out the bumps.
Thought about changing rear coil springs while I have them out?
Not sure that new springs would be necessary, but one of the most important items to replace on the rear suspension is the top "donut" bushing (item #4 in the fiche). It compresses over time and can lose you 1" of ride height as well as ride comfort.
I have ordered two new doughnuts from rock auto, 20 dollars each. waiting. I've looked a bit for a new lower buffer, part six. No luck. I dont think it provides much shock absorbing but i'd rather put a new one in that t he old one.
