We have a customer with those mufflers on his 01’ XJ8 and everything else is 100% stock. They look great but, they sound nearly as quiet as the stock mufflers. I bet if the X pipe and center mufflers were deleted, it would sound so much different.

Yes absolutely they do not sound much different than stock, which was a big concern of mine. When I built the resonator and tip setup for my other XJ I was pleased that it only gave a little more rumble at idle and a bit more tone when you got into it but other than that it keeps its regular calm tone.

If you're worried about the sound from the mina it's absolutely fine, I did it out of convenience knowing that if it was obnoxious I'd just weld in a better muffler/resonator.

The shine is a bit much on the muffler, I'll probably hit that with some fastblack

I think with that and the Mina's, should sound good. Any sound clips of your Remus muffler setup?

My SC coupler gave out, so I began the process of pulling the SC. What a hell of a job... But I finally got it. Now waiting on a few parts so I can rebuild my GenV blower I've had sitting around for a while, get a nice mild upgrade. Also going to do some "while I'm in there" jobs, maybe replace intake gaskets because one of them looks a bit gunky, replacing valley hoses, replacing PLB hose because of a suspected noise, maybe I'll pull the injectors and clean them on a bench? I'm not sure if it's worth doing that, but now is basically the only time I can somewhat easily do that.

two is better than one

Nilanium, if you’re going to replace the coupler, did you order the factory Eaton one? If you got any of the solid couplers, it’s going to sound like a box of rocks. At idle anyways. Also if I’m not mistaken on the Gen V charger, the intake side needs to have the holes drilled & tapped for the earlier intake elbow.

Yesterday was valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and upper shock mounts - and a bit of a wash.

Oh, that's still a M112 head unit. Where's the gain?
Now, I could see fitting a 5.0 head unit in there as that flows almost as much as a M122 on the same pulley.

the finnish guy on here used a modified 5.0 manifold with a 3.2 KB for a while.

super duper pay to play

I'm not sure these cars are worth that much effort for the diminishing returns. I'll take a gander under the hood to see what it takes to fit a complete 5L unit for the hell of it. If not, at least the head unit can be used. Those can still be had cheap

I had the GenV already sitting around. I got it from a junkyard years ago for 60 bucks thinking I'd swap it in, then I realized it wasn't nearly worth the effort, and it sat around collecting dust as I couldn't bring myself to sell it. Otherwise yeah, there is no reason to bother with that kind of swap, the broken coupler on my original one just served as an excuse to use it.

I'm looking forward to the reduced noise of the helical cut gears, but I'm not expecting any power gains. If I had a ton of money, time, and strong desire for power, I'd probably try to go twin screw. But there's really no need IMO, I've got to put those resources elsewhere, and enjoy the XJR as it is, just maintain it, maybe get some XJR100 big brakes, and a fresh coat of paint.

A2B Yes I did order the OEM eaton spring-loaded coupler, I've read enough about the noise from using the solid/rubber ones. I think the stock elbow is a bolt-in, you just have to use the gasket for the GenV blower. I'll double check that shortly, my rebuild parts came in and I should verify that before sealing the GenV.

Yes, every time I start it up. 😁
To really answer your question, no, I don’t know how to upload videos.

Today I replaced rear shocks using method described here. Taking things apart was ok, but boy it was a pita to install all back. Maybe because I did use new big "donut" (old one looked fine) . I ended up using spring compressor to get spring into place. Well, it's done now!

Instead of removing just caliper, I removed brakes all together(two bolts) and removed disk. Kinda gives more space.

I added stainless chrome rings polished aluminum to the dash instrument. Photo attached.

Also, I installed rear center console (as my newly purchased 98 XJ8L did not have it (not vanden plas).

Banar, can I ask a favor? Would it be possible for you to take a picture of the trim rings while looking at it while seated in a driving position? Did they just clip in or do they need to be glued in?

This will save Banar some time .... Looks something like this.
In my case, the 3 large one kind of wiggled in, but I added a small dot of epoxy glue on the inside, top and bottom.
The smaller ones needed to be glued.
I know there are some differences in fit from different suppliers, even one owner broke the veneer while trying to push the ring in ...
I think this is one of the best upgrades I did, still love the look every minuteI am inside the car.

Finally gave her a good wash after two months or so, including episodes of desert sand blowing in with rain in the UK.
So she wasn't looking her best for a while, but far more classy now.
Used Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax last year and it really makes life easier even now.
Wonder Wheels sealant is also excellent.
A dose of Liqui Moly Fuel Injector Cleaner has improved my motorway mileages too.
Nearing 250,000 miles and still gorgeous :-)

Much appreciated Eric. I really like the trim rings in the X100/X103 XK’s and it just adds a nice subtle finishing touch.

Default Not strictly relevant to the subject but...

I'm in Tokyo on a business trip and was wandering the deserted streets after dinner. I came across this 2002 3.2 in someone's garage. It's a mirror image of mine except it's only done 14,000 km and the exterior is like a brand new car. I didn't sit in it but stroked the leather and it was astonishingly good.

He wants 2.18 million yen for it (about $17,000).
