Easy to check if it's unhappy. Hold recirculate and auto at the same time, then switch the ingition on. The climate panel should beep then start flashing all lights and lcd segments.
Press auto and see if you get numbers other than zero.
If you do, the manual has a lookup table for the various errors. It'll tell you what's wrong.

I dropepd my XJR off at the nice man with the sparkly stick so he can reattach the front jacking points, again. I had them done 4 years ago but it seems the solid floor he attached them too is no longer solid - or indeed floor after it tore last week when trying to jack the car up.

Earlier today my daily ride Suzuki GSX1400 decided it was no longer charging the battery so my fleet is rather depleted currently with just my HD on the road & working.

 

Philip, don’t forget the loctite and/or a new locknut when you do those rear wheel bearings. Also, don’t forget the spacer on the inboard wheel bearing when you take the old one apart. The grease will make it stick to old parts.

 

Appreciate that. Haven't been able to find a replacement nut so threadlock it'll be.

Parts are due in middle of next week. Found a guide of how to pull it all to bits off the car.

Yeah, we’ve lost a few forum members cars due to the infamous axle nut selfdelete kit.

 

Well, in fairness, it's only the hub and brake.. and wheel.

The rest of it stays attached to the rest of the wreckage.

I'll see if I can find a replacement - looks like an AeroTite nut for it.

Assuming yesterdays efforts qualify too . . I got my 2001 3.2ltr XJ8's in-car phone working!!

I hadn't really tried too much to sort the Motorola in-car phone out, even though I'm pretty sure that in the UK mobile service providers are obligated to keep even 3G services "on" until 2030. Whether they will or not is anyone's guess. I also believe that many "steam powered" devices like the Jags Motorola and the Nokia 3310i in my pocket actually use the 2G signal?

On perusing the Jilly the Jags routine "general care" manual for coolant quantities, I saw that every fuse socket on all 5 fuse boards were identified. After a quick scour of the tables, slot 22 of the main fuse board in the boot (trunk to most of you guys) is where the 5amp fuse for the in-car phone should be . . but there was no fuse in there at all. So put the only 5amp spare on the case lid into the slot. It didn't work at first, so look another look and the 5amp fuse was blown. I can't really say if the fuse I put in wasn't blown already (I didn't check) as it would be daft beyond belief to keep a "blown" fuse in the spares rack . . but someone might of done just that!! Anyways, I've put a 15amp fuse in and the in-car phone has woken up and working fine and its crystal clear.

Upon reading the "In-Car Phone" dedicated booklet, I'm really impressed. Not only remembers your favourite numbers, but you can "voice tag" them too. So press the telephone button on the steering wheel, say a name you've asked it to remember and . . you're off.

Seafoam green is a very nice color. As a small child, I had a die-cast
metal Jaguar that color that was my favorite. I assume the "seafrost"
color is similar.

 

I had to throw on a set of XJS chrome 5 spokes because I had two starbursts that wouldn’t balance correctly at 3 different tire shops. I’m feeling very 90’s right now. I’m on the fence about them. But I’m rolling smoothly for now.

Try Welshent.com or harperjaguar.com. I've had good luck getting OEM bits from them both, including a couple axle nuts from Welsh. I recommend calling Welsh instead of buying online, I've got burned once by their parts catalog being mis-cataloged.
