Getting my baby working properly
Today i am sorting out various electrical gremlins. Love my Cat but wish it was easier to find pictures of some parts. I have a downloaded service manual but the title says XJ series 2001. Hoping this will work on my 2003 XJR. Haven't had time to work on her much but this forum is incredible and the people are too.

Replaced brake disks and pads over the weekend. Unfortunately something's gone wrong with the right front, and sometimes there's a metallic grinding noise when turning left.
Sounds like something hitting either the stone guard, or the back of the disk. So some time this week I'll have to pull it all apart again and check what's going on.

Hi FirstJag7979
You must have downloaded the 2001 thru 2003 XJ Series Electrical Guide PDF file (multiple PDF file names (3 of them)- X3082003en, also jfj2002en, and jzj2001en).
Apparently since all 3 model years actually use the 2001 XJ series electrical guide PDF file contents that probably means that the no changes were made in the guide since 2001 for the next 2 years (2002 and 2003).

Stones removed, and a quick smack with a crowbar for a bit of extra clearance, and the brakes are perfect again
FYI the calliper bolts are T45 Torx, NOT 7mm hex.

It's easy peasy....no dropping of subframe...no shifting anything;o]
All you need is up on the hoist...at back of diff on the upper side of the rear alloy plate you will find a plug with a square hole in it.
Use a 1/2" drive handle which will fit the plug or a wrench designed for the purpose.
Slip it into the plug at such an angle to be able to give it a good quick thump to break open the plug.
Then, use a suction gun to suck out the old oil.
These things hold around 900ml which about a pint I think.
If the oil has never been changed, it will stink like you wouldn't believe ;o))
Replace with any good quality full synthetic 85W90 GL5 rated oil.
Fill to start to to drip and wait until stops dripping ad replace plug.
The original washer should be fine.
I always add a diff additive into the 900ml mix...stopped my r/h side output seal from leaking ;o)
