New rotors and pads all around, engine oil and filter, supercharger oil, fuel filter, replaced cracked valve cover and leaking gasket and while I was in there checked the secondary tensioners, theyre original but in good shape so it looks like a timing job is in the future. Also got my single din adapter for a radio upgrade. In a car this nice I cant stand using the cassette adapter.......it just seems wrong.
This is after 130,000 miles.
Had the passenger side upper control arm replaced. Valve cover gaskets were replaced due to oil leaks. Minor paint fixes to lower rocker panels and 4 new tires.
Still have to fix light stalk with broken wires in there due to light issues and still tackling a clunking on the drivers side front.
Once those are done will be in good shape!
Getting close to buttoning up the paint work to repair where some bonehead dropped something on my rear fender at the local big box home supply store.
In the paint booth even as we speak...nice 70 degrees here in eastern PA today, low humidity...prime, sand back, seal, then shoot base and clear, feather in, then buff out the whole car.
Won't be ready for the Brits in the Village show tomorrow in Lahaska PA, but, I'll have the Europa and XF on display...I drive the Lotus, SWMBO will bring the XF then wander off to the outlet shops and wear out the mag strip on the back of the credit cards.

You would rather upgrade the stereo than the tensioners???
Normally I would agree but the valve cover was leaking so much it had to be swapped. Plus it was somewhat exploratory as I didn't know the state of the Tensioners. ALSO it turns out the engine was replaced with a 1999 unit, so there's a good chance it's Nikosal, so a comp test is in order to, just for my piece of mind. So I'll be all over it very very soon.
Today i drove the Jag to do some winter clothes shopping, and to grab a bite to eat at the local deli. Later on I dusted off the Jag with a car duster ( lots of pollen ) and quick detailed any imperfections! Also cleaned the seats!
Got a set of HID H7 and installed on low beams. Pattern seems to be the same but so much whiter and better lit. Discharge point of light was same as bulb filament. High beams seem yellow in comparison. I am not sure what others did to retain the bulb as the stock retainer is built into the bulb holder. I used a 1 and 1/4 O ring and inside retaining circlip and kept the original bulb holder. Only took about 1 hour. Lamps come off so easy and good access. Ballast bolted to lamp mounting bracket so all looks quite neat and original. $50 for the pair.

In the US, the sulfur issues was not as prevalent as it was in the EU, since our standards for sulfur content in fuel were a lot more stringent. Do the compression test if you must, but, if the car is running right (the bodgy tensioners notwithstanding...I'd do those before worrying about the ICE upgrade...since if they fail, you will be in a world of hurt...) and you're in the ballpark with mileage (20-23 MPG), I'd worry about the mechanicals first, since without those, you've got a parts car.
Well I thought it the last nice warm day of the year I'd start the Jag, wash and wax it... before putting it away for the winter....
and umm all I got was ....rrrrr rrr r click click click.... battery dead .... on charge now... it's been a few weeks since I started it.... will test the battery once it's charged...
Car passed the TÜV inspection faultfree... Wasn't expecting that! So 24 months until the next inspection... YAY!
So I did some work on the car... Interior was removed and clean up. Headliner replaced. Sunroof removed and sorted (jammed on tuesday). The cheap and nasty parrot handsfree ***** was also remived... Lightbulbs changed for new ones. Inside is a nice place to be ow. A nice contrasting headliner in black with beige/creme Details
Finally found a used moon roof unit on Craigslist, entire setup for 100$. Still can't remember how the moon roof headliner slips in?? Clips pointing out or clips pointing in?
Replaced the lower front shock bushings today, to get rid of a bit of a rattle I had. Much much better. Now to track down the OTHER little rattles that aren't nearly as noticeable. Weather should warm up a tick tomorrow, so probably a wash in store, because hey why not.
Over this year, got several times that one of the spring-clips (on each side of the sunroof) got disconnected from the slider, resulting in a loud bang, uneven operation and the internal panel hanging.
Bent 2 small clips from spring-steel, holding the clips firmly to the slider, still allowing it to rotate.
Needed a bit of fiddling to get them fit correct, but no way they can ever come loose again.
With that, I am done with the interior, end of my list, better then new!
Found a very nice condition VDP fluted grille and boot trim piece...and set of rear seat backs with the tray tables. Going to upgrade the trim a bit on the X308...why? Why not.
And, oh, a spare leaper. Have a nice piece of walnut stock...thinking of routing the edge, mount the leaper...have a desk ornament.
Fixed the third brake light mount. Used the 3M high strength trim tape. Seems to be holding so far.
Passenger door panel pocket replaced.
Drivers door water shield and door panel replaced and all the correct clips and screws in place so no more rattling from there.
Fix the sunroof arm . Same issue as ericjansen, but didn't do anything with clips yet. At least I know what the problem is..
