I wrecked My Beloved 2000 XJR Carla today. Like Wrecked her... bad.

I was Totally sick to say the least. Ive spent the last year getting her 'semi prisitine' mechanically if I do say so myself. (my favorite dealership jag tech Quit and was working from home) so all those repairs that were normally out of reach.. were well within range financially... as much as a 15 year old XJR could be "perfect".. 'Ol Carla was perfect..

Im gonna miss her.. Id post a pic of the carnage.. If I knew how... My question though...

Does her engine and trans which was recently serviced...have any value? could I resell them? if so How?

Thanks...

as the former owner of a 98 and 2000 XJR... as well as an 95 and 97 Xj6 and xj6L... Im thinking of maybe going with an 2004-2005 XJ.. what do you guys think of those?

Sorry for your loss.. But at least your ok..
I like some things about the newer but still really like the 98-03 body best..
I had been watching this one which ended, but got an email notification that it was relisted today. Maybe so I could pass it along to you?? It's in Georgia

Jaguar XJR | eBay
Here's his Craigslist ad- http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/5341954218.html

Thanks
I knew I could count on you guys..

Georgia ain't that far away....
and like you.. I prefer the X308 over the X350 also... Although My mechanic friend..says that parts are less on the X350.. Which certainly got my attention..

I guess I should call him..and see what the story is...

After replacing so many 200.00 hoses
1,000 radiators
Rebuilding my front and rear suspensions
rebuilding my ABS module
all the shocks, various bushings, and other things Im forgeting about...
You know..those little things that elevate the car, Im just leery when people say the car is nice. But IT DOES look nice in the photos.. Wonder what I should try and pay for it?

Guess the good news is.. I have a parts car?

I'm glad I found him local. Opened up his own place a year ago. (Granite State Restoration- Hudson, NH) he restores old MG's from the ground up.

Scraped the Jag's bumper today; not the best feeling in the world. Might be paying to get that fixed soon.

Not the best day for the Jag.

Default That's Awesome!!

I was watching the ebay listing and had seen it ended early. Figured it sold off ebay. Went to CL ad and still there. (Just looked)
That sure is a pretty car.
Twice I almost bought this one. 2003 Jaguar XJ XJR - Villa Park, IL 60181 - Haggerty Buick-GMC
Had a flight out a month ago, then they needed to do some work and wanted to raise price. Cancelled trip. This past Tuesday was ready to try again. It's currently on it's way to Oregon.
So, looks like I'm going to combine the 02 Sport with the XJR and build what I want..

Start a new thread and LET'S SEE IT!!!!
Merry Christmas to YOU!!

Now that is at least some kind of a happy ending, and a sweet Christmas present. Congratulations.

Tried to start my XJ8 today. Parked it with a dead alternator... Probably dead battery... Though they normally die and don't let the engine turn...

Fixed my newly installed my antenna by reinstalling it and adding a bit of grease.

Got the shitbag running again. Changed the battery for a 92 Ah huge'n and filled the boot/trunk with all parts needed to do the cam chains and alternator. Just am waiting for the altenator and special tools for changing the camchains and tensioners.

This happened yesterday: I decided to buy a glaze to cover some scratches, and to make the paint glossy. I would have gone with a polish but because I have a cheap aftermarket paint job the clear coat is too thin to apply anymore abrasives; so a glaze is the next best thing.

Washed, clayed, paint prepped, glazed and then added carnauba wax. Looks really good planning to do the same process once every three months.

Also went for a scenic drive which was fun; especially while listening to my James Bond Goldfinger album!

Thanks! I used a product called Poorboy's black hole glaze.
http://amzn.com/B001QXP7QM

On top of the glaze I used Mother's Carnauba wax. http://amzn.com/B0002U2V1O

Started to replace my chains today and that not a day too early!

The secondary tensioners are the 1st generation still BUT they don't seem to be damaged/cracked. I will still replace them. They have a lot of tension in them too, as the chain doesn't have any slack whatsoever. BUT the primary chains are worse. They have a bit of slack and can be moved on the sprockets. The guides are all cracked. No parts missing (yet) but still broken. The tensioning rails are cracking all around the hydraulic cylinder...

I think I've timed it just right!

So much to "simply change the upper tensioners". No, do the whole lot or it is a nasty bodge!

I admire you guys that can do the 'heavy work'

I had my cooling system re-worked and thermostat replaced as the previous owners guy had it done incorrectly .. Some of the hoses were incorectly plumbed to the overflow container... And had my front wheel bearings replaced in search of that 'jaguar ride' and to get rid of a clunk over bumps...
