Easy way is to screenshot the bit of photo you want to send - that way, you know it is gonna be in screen resolution already, no faffing around - you can upload any size

partial screenshot on a Mac as Alt-Shift-4 - dunno on PC sorry

Eric - i hope to goodness you've got a flipping good reason for living out in that loony place. And well done for flying the Jag Flag so brilliantly amidst all that scooter and Toyota mayhem...

Well, this thread is not the place to discuss, but let say it is one of the better places to be (saying that after travelling half the globe for some 30 years).

I got beaches, high mountains, national parks, convenience, high tech parks, a glossy city, and mostly sunshine and blue skies all at my footstep.
It makes me sad that this place has no official standing in this world.

Well then, where do I start?

Drove it to school this morning. All was fine. No weird noises or bad shifting.

After school, I was on my way home, when I got into a jam. Because I always like to keep the heat away from the ATF, I put it in N and noticed, after letting off the brake, that it was still in gear... In N!

So, back into D and tried to move away, it felt like it was trying to get in gear but nothing. Not even a creep. Engine off, engine on, still was like it, until I nearly floored it and then it banged and "Transmission Fault" (Getriebefehler) came on. Only 4th gear (and R) work.

Okay, at least I had a gear. So I tried to get to my brother's workshop. Always in D not trying to worry about the costs... Result: managed to get there and wanted to read out the codes.

Code: P1722, which basically always refers to the TSS but I doubt it is that. More so the dreaded A-drum which has died.

YAY! 203k km... And I thought mine would last longer... Damn 5HP24!

Sorry to hear that Daim, I bet you wish you hadn't drop shifted it the other week now?

A similar sequence happened to me. I pulled up to a petrol pump and put it into park, but something didn't seem right but I didn't think much of it. I then filled the tank to the brim, paid and came back to the car. Upon restarting it was immediately obvious the box had gone as I'd stopped. That was the beginning of a prolonged end for my old XJ.

I'm sure you'll be able to get it fixed, must be plenty of ZF spares in Germany.

LOVE that color! She'd look just right with a set of Pentas or Asteriods (non-chrome of course )

Sure do... But I'll be getting the parts from 'Murica... Cheaper and reinforced. The ZF parts cost a fortune here...

Um, that's beautiful! Car, setting, everything.

One friend once worked in Taiwan, and still wants to go back. Loved it there.

Enjoy your Jag's.
Andy
I found some for £33 from a UK site Jaguar XJ8 Chrome Mirror Covers www.brooklandmotorfactors.co.uk

£33 for what looks to be the same product Mina Gallery offers for $99 that's still cheaper, even w/ conversion & shipping to the US. In fact they seem to have everything Mina offers for @ least half price.

Going to grab the mirror covers & door handle trim.

Well it's certainly answered a question I had, what would my car look like with Asteroid wheels on. I was tempted to switch my wheels to these and at one point was involved in a bidding war on eBay, but in the end I decided I liked the unique and individual look of my wheels on the car.

I've not done anything with my X308 since she came home from the mechanic. I've got to run her back for the transmission fluid level to be topped off, so until I get a chance she's sat under her cover sulking.

Bit of piece of mind: the 5 speed box seems repairable... So I shouldn't have to worry much about it... Some ZF expert has offered to watch my should er repairing it and can supply all required parts for a good price...

Fitted new sway bar rubbers and end-links, all tight now.
Front is finished and should be quiet, nothing left there to rattle.
Next is the rear.

Also changed the power steering fluid, smelled and looked like it was long overdue...

Good luck with this, man. The ZF in my VDP has had me on edge since Day 1. Hopefully you're able to get it sorted out without it costing you too much $$.

Today I replaced the RR inner/outer wheel bearing in the VDP. I'll do the RF in another few weeks after final exams.

Man, does this thing ever eat bearings!

Cheers mate! I have an expert not far from me, who said he'd help me out... He has all the parts from ZF and loads of updated parts (which also cost less).

I'll be doing (as a minium) the A drum and the pressure valve... Should all of a sudden change the entire tranny then. He has Audi S8s running 700 hp through standard 5hp24 trannies and they don't fail... Even with 600.000 km on the clock (yes, 600k!)

Just need to find time to get that PITA out of the car...

Finally got mine out and drove it as it was almost 80* today. Purchased it in January and put it away.
