Washed the car and dried it. Ordered a Wheel center cap as the clips came out (broke) and put it on yesterday.

No, your mechanic is wrong, you have (1st or 2nd Generation) plastic tensioners, the metal ones are silver and always will be.

In the spirit of spring renewal I've ordered,

Aluminum t-stat housing kit
Embossed premium wheel badges in green/silver
Red Line 57904 (75W90) Synthetic Gear Oil 2-quarts
Sensen front & rear shocks

She'll be looking fierce w/ new paint & feeling awesome with some new components !

As some of you know from the other thread I had exhaust work done to my baby. Removed the front 3 mufflers and had an x-pipe fabricated and installed. Not only was the sound music to my ears, but I got 2 additional benefits. First I noticed more acceleration and quicker throttle response. Tonight I drove the 2 hours through the mountains on curved roads and stopped to top off the tank. I got 25.4 mpg. Huge increase!! Not to mention the more I drive this the car the deeper in love with it I am.

Replacement shifter cable arrived in the mail last night, so today after work, assuming no rain, will be getting the car up on stands and tackle the center console removal so that I can get the new one in and adjusted. Pray for me...

Thanks for the clarification m8. Much appreciated. On the plus side, I guess they still appear to be in great condition at almost 200k!

I remember I did this when I bought my car, and it was one of the most satisfying things I have done on the car, the leather says kind of 'thank you' once fresh. Good move!

It will be, it will be, .... if only she got the same amount of affection that other baby of you is getting .... there you are slowly creating a fantastic car.

Well my paint fiasco has come to a head. The guilty party & I handled our differences in a spirited combat sambo session last night. One of the perks being a major partner in a dojo, you have 24/7 access to it's amenities.

Sambo for the uninitiated.

No don't go the "millennials" route. Jags are meant to be shiny and polished

Interesting....have been thinking this is the way to go.
You have used a fabricated x-pipe as opposed to one off the shelf....is it designed the same way?
How is the exhaust tome?
Do you get any resonance in the cabin at certain speeds?

Love to see what you guys are doing, but yesterday's super silent and comfy highway ride left me convinced that I don't want to give up the oem system.
Ordered some cutouts instead ...

My X308 is the Anti-Jag

Loud, with oversized exhaust tips, inside all dark (incl. headliner), I want the wood gone, I don't want the chrome

I was even thinking about a 'rocket bunny' swide body style

Well, the X308 has actually had a lot more of my hard earned cash than my V12! Not kidding... I've stuffed around EUR 4.500 just in parts into it. On top of that a EUR 3.200 LPG injection setup. My V12 has not even passed the EUR 4.000 barrier yet!

So it get's what it needs... It just has to wait at the moment a little bit.

I don't know of anyone that makes a pre-fabricated x-pipe. It took the guys at the exhaust shop about an hour to make mine. I have no resonance at any speed. Reminds me of the sound of a ZO6 Corvette
