What Does The Yellow Plug Do On The Premium Alpine Stereo?

I wish to replace the standard unit with a more modern mechless one, including Nav, 'phone, USB and iPod connectivity.
There seems to be a few choices for wiring adapters for the "non-amplified" system, but not for the Premium system.
At present I would like to use the pre-out from the new unit to connect to the on-board amp, rather than use the speaker outputs and run new cables to all the speakers.
So do the pre-out from the Alpine unit connect via the white or yellow connector?
The '00 change manual describes the yellow connector as,
"26-way connector (B) to telephone module and navigation system DVD reader"

Well the new unit is in and looks OK.
GPS working fine, DAB OK too.
iPod connects, 64gb USB stick with FLAC files on is also OK.
BUT,
can't get the aerial up and no sound whatsoever from the unit, simply because the speakers, and aerial trigger, have not been connected up.
The CD changer and amp are out of the boot, but I am no-where nearer to finding where the speaker cables are?
Any ideas?
Some say the passenger (left side) rear kick board contains a connector to the speakers from the amp,
others it's in the right side, if I break into this connector (of course it's a non-standard audio interconnect, just like all the connectors behind the unit) is it the plug or socket that goes to the speakers?
Wiring diagrams I've found, are next to useless as there were many changes over model years and manufacturer/spec of audio system.
So I need to connect front l/r to front l/r and a-pillar tweeters, and rear l/r to rear l/r and dual voice sub-woofer, and then a trigger lead to the aerial.
This is the only car I've ever had that has caused such consternation when fitting an aftermarket headunit.....the Premium aspect seems to increase the difficulty by a healthy margin.
