Default what is this gasket called and where can i get with cheap shipping

ive been trouble shooting a ignition miss and found i have oil down in the spark plug wells. i ordered new valve cover gaskets. when i took the valve covers off i see there were 4 gaskets around where the coil rubber boots go thru the valve cover and 2 around the center bolts. what are they called, and do they have a part number? where can i buy them with cheap or free shipping. its a 1999 xj8 4.0 liter engine. i found them at gaudin but they want 15 bucks to ship 10$ worth of stuff. thanks again, you guys are great

Your link isn't working but from the description it sounds like:

NCA2578BB - Spark Plug Boss Seal

Most people buy the two cam cover gaskets and four spark plug seals as a complete kit.

Although there was some over lap and confusion about US vs British definition of the 1999 model year, you should have an AJ27 engine. FelPro has a complete set of gaskets and seals for that engine available at your local auto parts store for less than $40. Ask for a set for a 2002 Lincoln LS V8.

That set will not work if you have a '99 AJ26 engine.

Hi
Here is a JPEG file I created from the Jaguar Electronic Catalog showing the Camshaft Cover (Valve Cover) and Gaskets
Look at Spark plug boss seal on listing - reference numbers 3 and 16:

Name: XJX308CamshaftCoverandGasketsPartsA.jpg
Views: 341
Size: 95.1 KB

Their part numbers and the part images are different (NCE2578AA & NCE2578BB).

I tried looking these parts up on Gaudin Jaguar Parts.com and only the NCE2587BB part number was found and listed model years 1997 & 1998.
I used part# AJ87206 and found the Spark Plug Boss Seals for 1999-2003 model years about $50 at their discounted price with shipping ($15 was shipping).

Internet search using 1999-2003 Jaguar XJ8 spark plug boss seal brought up the NCE2578AA aftermarket part pricing & part image. Price was about $3 each and you need 8 of them (one for each spark plug).

Found Ebay listing (item 200780106916) QE Auto Parts in Florida (tele area code 305) they were trying to sell these at $12.35 each ($4.35 plus $8.00 shipping).
I called them about the item pricing - they said each seal was $2.60 plus $8.00 shipping.
They changed their Ebay listing to 8 seals for $28.80 while I was on the phone with them.
Now it is a set of 8 for $28.80 and free shipping. Since you are in Florida you might call them and get lower shipped price (they also have their own website - http://stores.qeautoparts.com/aboutus.html

Rock Auto Parts has a uro 8 pack kit (AJ872068PK) for $13.99 plus shipping ($10 to Connecticut from California), probably same shipping to Florida.

Hi markusrap
Here is a secret promo code to use when buying parts from advance auto parts.

Order your parts on the advance auto parts website and choose pickup at your store, then in the promo code box, put in A123 ($10 off $30 or more, $20 off $50 or more, $30 off $100 or more).

I also looked at Advance Auto Parts using Jaguar info before I posted below. I guess I should have used the Lincoln info and found the Felpro Valve Cover Gasket set - part# VS 50724 R - $64.99 and only $44.99 after applying the promo code and $47.84 with sales tax.

I paid $22.75 just for the (8) spark plug boss seals kit from Rock Auto Parts.
Bummer.

Something changed! When we first discovered the FelPro gasket set it was under $40.

Hi testpoint
I canceled our order for the 8 sparkplug boss seals.

Replaced it with an order for the Felpro Valve Cover Gasket set - part# VS50724R on the Rock Auto Parts website -2002 Lincoln LS 3.9L V8 -
$36.79 less $1.84 (5% discount code) plus $8.44 shipping - total $43.39

Better deal all around.

I can't get myself to pay the ridiculous shipping fees that Rock Auto wants -- I put the two items in my cart, total just over $50, then entered my zip (I like in Florida) and they say the parts come from two different locations, one is over $9, the other over $8 for shipping -- total, almost $69 --- WHAT???? That's a lot of shipping costs for gaskets!

I can't seem to get AdvanceAutoParts.com to work for me today -- they seem to be working on their site, I'll try again later.

I also have exactly one chance to get the right parts -- this XJ8 is my only car right now, so once I get it ripped apart, there's no running back to the auto parts store for different parts.

Jim --- how do I know (or how can I be guaranteed) that the Lincoln gasket will fit my car? Also, do I need anything else while I have the covers off? Sealant or the like?
