So, I took my 2095 XJ8 L Vanden Plas on a little road trip and let kitty stick her claws out, so to speak! From Central Florida to Baton Rouge to North West Georgia and back home to Florida. Awesome trip. The last fill up before home gave me a range of 561 miles! Averaged 27.7 over all. What a fantastic automobile!!

You have an X350 with the 4.2 engine in an aluminum body which was produced from '04-'09. The 308 has a 4.0 engine in a steel body and ran from '98-'03, though the design started at '95 with the AJ16 4.0 straight six engine. The switch to aluminum shaved off about 200 or more pounds which, along with a 6-speed rather than a 5-speed and longer gearing gives the great mileage. I had an '06 VDP on which I routinely got 27-29mpg. One trip (Savannah to DC) I got about 32.2 or a bit more by running without the AC on, just using the fan to pull in outside air, and not speeding. Unreal.
