wheel change
I have a 2003 VDP with aluminum wheels no hub caps. I would like to place these wheels on my moms 1998 VDP which have the 8" hub caps. I'm tired of buying hubcaps and am selling the 2003.
Both wheels are 16". Should there be any problem with this change?
Also, I noticed the tire pressure as indicated on the tires says 51psi max.
Can these tires actually handle that much pressure. I have never used over 35psi on previous cars (non jag) I owned.
TIA
thanks

The tire pressures should always be set to what the car manufacturer recommends, which is in the owner's handbook or on a plate somewhere on the car (often inside the driver's door).
The pressure on the tire is a specification, that's all, and it's really dangerous to set it to that pressure.

On my car the tire pressures are on a table inside the center console compartment/armrest. Ignore the "comfort" pressures and use the higher ones, unless you like paying for tires.
The "51psi max" means that the tires themselves can handle 51psi, and anything above that runs the risk of the tire blowing up. Actually driving at that pressure will cause uneven wear and a very harsh ride, at the very least.
