Hello,
Firstly my apologies if this has been asked a million times in the history of the forum. As you may be able to tell I put this post on the wrong forum (350 instead of 308 to start with). I couldn't find a good answer on the web or through the search on the Forum so I thought the best thing was to ask, so here goes.
I have just purchased a 2003 XJ Sport, it has aftermarket 20" wheels on it, which are awful. I would like to go back to OEM wheels but I can not figure out if mine should be 16 or 18' rims. 2003 seems to be a change over model year which saw the out going model on 16's and the new model on 18's.
I prefer the OEM 18's. Am I OK to put 18's on it? I assume the model change was a mere facelift and so 18's are fine as Jag went to 18's?
Also I assume the best tyre size options for 18's is the OEM 235/50/18's
I appreciate the guidance, I would like to put my Jag back to OEM but selecting the best bits.

Hello and welcome to the forum! You can check the OEM wheel and tire sizes shipped with your vehicle by checking the factory plate located on the inside of the driver's front door. It should show the original wheel/tire size that were shipped. This should give you an idea of where to start and what you're looking for. What type of 20's are they might I ask? Pictures perhaps?
FYI=18"s are just fine as I believe they came with 18" 245/40/18. If you want more side wall height, use the 50's as I'm sure you shouldn't have a clearance issue.
I'm sure a lot of sport owners will chime in soon enough.

XJR's came with 18x8 wheels with 255 40R18 tyres, so this will be fine. You could always go smaller, but IMHO 18's look great on these cars (although personally I would love some 19's)
the jag-lovers forum has a brochures section that has lots of information too... this page was from the '01 model year, but it's still applicable to your car

Thanks for the help. I have been outside to look at the label, I can not see the tire information on there. The Manufactured date is etc. I also reviewed the wheels that are one the car now (only brought it yesterday) and these are 18's. Still in my opinion awful but hey. These are they:
Diamo Wheels Part w/pdi03888031840 - DI38 Karat Series - Bright PVD - - 4 Wheel Parts
Do you know when I would be able to find the full wheel/tire specs for the 18's on a 308?

Agree with you, your wheels are ugly, should we say too flashy/ricy?
If interested I have a set of 18" wheels (asteroid) from my 2001 XJR for sale.
Your car came from the factory with earlier XJR wheels (penta)
