Default Wheels and tires

i want to put a different set of wheels and tires on my xj8 and i dont want to do any body work or nothing like that. i want something in the range of 245/35r to 265/35r but i dont know what rim size to use that will fit and have the correct (or better) offset. any ideas? I also plan to lower it about an inch in the future

The 19” Montreals (stock for XJR-100) are a 255/35/19. So you might want to look into a 19” rim with that tire size so your speedometer will stay accurate. Look into Coventry Wheels as they’re made for the jags.

True...the stock wheel well will only allow a certain amount of width without rubbing.
I like having wider tires in the rear but then it makes rotating the tires difficult..

OEM bolt pattern is 5x120.65mm. Do NOT get 5x120 as they will fit but slowly ruin your lugs and will likely be hard to even get on straight without reaming them out some. This is a GM bolt pattern as well as older Jags. Corvettes and Camaros use the same bolt pattern but the offset is a bit higher on those so the wheels might tuck in a bit more than you like, but I've been wondering how a nice set of Z06 wheels would look.

Once you've settled on wheels, use this calculator to find the right tire size so your speedometer isn't messed up. You probably need to go with all 4 wheels and tires the same size or your traction control might constantly be going off on you while you're driving, not sure how sensitive it is, but I can tell you for sure that when I put my OEN sized spare on my XJR (255/40/18) with 3 tires that were smaller than OEM (225/40/18) that my TCS killed engine power as I was trying to pull out of a parking lot into traffic...scared the hell out of me, though the car was stalling.

I don’t see an actual Coventry wheel website. There are plenty of wheel dealers that are authorized retailers of their wheels though.

after more thinking and stuff. yk. im leaning toward 255/30r20s, i just need to figure out the offset so it doesnt rub. and this size also is pretty accurate with the speedo too.

If I were you, I’d get all the worn suspension components (assuming it hasn’t all been done) dealt with and a proper full alignment prior to getting the new wheels and tires.
