When to replace crank position sensor?

They seldom give any issues unless there’s a lot of corrosion under the car. In that scenario I've seen the sensor corrode in place and they have to be destroyed in order to replace one. For example, if you’re trying to pin the flex plate to put the engine in time, the crank sensor has to be removed.

Replace it when there is an issue or code. It's an easy and quick replacement so no real point in preventative maintenance here.
