There was a guy named JOSEPH that used to come to the dealers and repair shops in a van fully equipped with all his tools.
He pulled the head-board out the rear door and laid it out on the floor. Scraped the foam residue and laid out new head-liner.
Cut it out with sharp razor and sprayed new glue. Applied and smoothed, let it dry a while than did the sunroof panel.
Installed all and then left. Took 2 or 3 hours and was gone onto another job.
After watching how he did it, I guess I could do it but the dealer just let him do all the headliners and interior trim.
He was efficient and his work was very good looking when completed.
He passed away one day over a decade ago. Story was he had a heat stroke in a dealer parking lot working on a car.
Was taken to Hospital and died of a heart attack.
The Dallas/Fort Worth area lost a great interior guy!!!

Some things just need to be left stock. This is one of them.

I just replaced my headlinig two weeks ago. Bought it on ebay from a UK-based company. Never did anything in the interior on my car before, and it only took me ~1 hour. It is really straightforward job, biggest risk is that it starts to rain.

This is the tutorial video I followed:

60gunner, i wouldn't hope for selling 20+ old car with gazillion of km on it for premium $$$ unless you have a free access to rich and price unwise customers. on the other side it is old conflict of those who must keep it stock with those who just enjoy life, so if rolls and bentley can fit headliner with stars, then what you fit in yours is limited only by your imagination, unless you are unable to go past **** carpet of course.

When I lived in Iowa (Council Bluffs) **** carpets were an in thing. Even on truck dashboards. Especially lovely lime green ****!! But, it was 1974 . . . and kitchens were a lovely orange and fridges were green . . .
I found that 3mm staples could fix a sagging headliner in the shortrun; the local upholstery shop could match the stock headliner perfectly, tho, for about $240. Biggest issue was the plastic parts that disintegrated . . .
