Where is the vibration?

I just brought a 2004 XJR with 95,000 miles. It has a vibration at highway speeds, so I took it to the dealer and was told that the front bearing were bad. I changed the bearing and it did help some, but I can still feel vibration. Could it be in rear drive-axles or drive-shafts? Should I expect some noise and vibration from a car with this many miles?

Can you feel it through your steering wheel or butt? if the wheel, its front end. Have you had the front wheels dynamically balanced, meaning spun up on a digital reader, that tells where the counter weights should be fitted, a good tyre shop will have the kit, and takes 2 mins a wheel to do....modern wheel bearings will outlast the life of the car usually.

you need a road force balance check done on the tires. If theyre flat spotted, or out of spec for roundness (26 or less for pass car tires) it doesnt matter how perfectly theyre balanced youll feel the tire/tires lack of smoothness. This is always the first place to start. Wheels bearing would last a long time except for the occassional trip through high water after driving and the wheel bearing are hot from driving. The rapid cooling when you go through little high water can suck the water in past the sealed unit ans long down the road after youve forgoten about it cause corrosion and failure. This does take into accoutn normal wear and tear, or potholes etc.
