Default Who's your resource for tranny service kits?

My 1998 XJ8 VDP could use a transmission service, and a mechanic friend and I were looking to tackle it. Where do the Forum's home mechanics go for their ZF transmission kits? Can anyone recommend a good source with good product?

Thanks!

There isn't a ton of kits for these, but there out there, for the most part the trans is quite reliable. I believe the 98 XJ8 was part of the "A" drum issue, you'll want to look at doing that. The base XJ8 ZF should be upgraded with a Trans Go 5-HP-24-PR, which helps alleviate the harsh shift on the drum. I have one if you want to PM me and make an offer. I also have new electrical connection coupling, another item that should be considered.

Other than that, depending on what you find in the pan, you should only have to change the fluid (Febi W0133-1632675 recommended) and filter. If you find excess parts in the pan and have to do, or just want to do the clutches, do a search using the trans ZF numbers. It was and I believe still is a very popular trans from Merc for Merc & Dodge vans to Jag, Beemer and Merc cars just to mention a few.

Here's something else to consider... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ersion-219228/
