Wind? noise at high speed

Hello All,
I just returned from a 600 mile trip in my 2000 XJ8. It used to have what I assumed was a wind noise at speeds above 110 mph, however it seems to be coming in at lower speeds. Now it is at speeds of 85-90 mph. It seems to come from everywhere, and I can't pinpoint it, even with passenger help. If I tilt the sunroof slightly, I think it goes away, but the actual wind is so loud it's hard to tell. It is a loud whistle, but at first I thought it was a radio noise. I only drive at those speeds on the open road (Vegas to L.A.) so it is not easy to put any time into diagnosing. Has anyone had a wind noise at normal cruising speeds that can be related to this? I thought about taping the seams on the sunroof, but didn't think the tape would stay on, other than duct tape, which would possibly take the paint off on its removal. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry
There is a Service Bulliten for the 2000 XJ8 that mentions excessive wind noise coming from the wing mirrors. Do you think your noise is coming from the wing mirrors ? If so, we can pursue that TSB (The fix is pretty simple.... adding a piece of sticky tape to the relevant spot on the mirror)

I was having a little fun in my 2000 xjr today and drop it in S mode then smashed the pedal until I hit about 110 mph.... but at 100-110 there was a very loud wind sounding noise from the right hand side of the car.... Could I have just caught a bad wift of wind causing this noise or could it be something else? no noise at any other MPH.... anyone else encounter this???
Thanks,
Sinatrakat

I don't know if my problem is the same as yours but for the last 7 years or so I have been living with a non-serious but very annoying whistle when I accelerate above 70 mph and maintain that speed (probably at 75mph). It sounds as though it is coming from the front ventilation ducts in either the center or passenger side. But I have not been able to isolate this even with the radio off, windows up, and a passenger inside. If I decelerate back down below 70 mph, the whistling stops and I believe it also goes away if I accelerate above 80 mph but I haven't tried that in a while so I honestly don't remember. I don't think the noise is coming from the passenger door mirror but I will read the TSB mentioned above.
