KC asked me a question on the window tint used in my XJ8, and as I can't add pictures in the PM system, here some additional pics.
XJ8 at certain angles, the chrome tint reflects
At other angles, it is just a tint, probably in the 50% or maybe 35% range, still a see-through, and not obstructive in the dark at all
My XK8 came with 5% for the side windows, and 10% or 20% for the front. Besides of being butt-ugly, it killed the green glow of the OEM windows completely.
And after removing without any tint, the green is what Jaguar did in the glass itself. You see it is actually not that much lighter / transparent than the XJ8.
And here a reference chard for the tint definitions. The chrome-look is extra I presume.

Yeah, I know that ... had whole rebuilt processes of motorbikes on one of those .. till they decided that sharing was no longer allowed ... all building threads into the garbage .
Not again ...
About 3 years ago I wanted my tint redone on a Mercedes SL. When I walked into the combination car audio / tint shop I noticed a display of the different shades of tint and another display with different shades of tint with a bright heat source behind the film that reduced the transfer of UV / Heat. The owner demonstrated the light reduction and heat / uv reduction on any displayed film you wanted to test. Up until that day … I did not know that certain car tints could reduce heat and uv light if you chose that option.
I chose that option and what a difference. Imagine how long you could retain a new interior with the elimination of the uv rays and heat.
